    1. I made the same mistake yesterday. I wonder if it is because I thought about how there would be light when I woke up.

      Anyway, it’s George W’s fault.

  1. This is a joke I heard:

Only the government can cut 2 feet off the top of the blanket and sew it to the bottom of the blanket and call it a longer blanket.

  2. Very funny — and also highlights the fact that film trailers have been completely identical since about 1983.

Anyway, John Oliver (actually Ze Frank) has the truth about all this. The Prussians did in fact come up with some good ideas, but this one is firmly in the not so good camp.

  3. Very funny! They mention that Arizona does not go for that DST nonsense. I have to admit that does sound sensible.

    1. Yup, Arizona doesn’t, but all the Federal institutions, like the post office do. Must be confusing in Arizona. Backwards on so many issues, but maybe actually right on this (well, even a stopped clock is right twice a day… )

      1. Last I knew, Hawaii does not do DST. And what the hell for since they are far enough south the day does not change much from summer to winter.

        1. Nope, you need to think bigger, the Metric Leisure Week…featuring 100 hour metric days, so you can get more done.

It was an SNL skit with Dan Aykroyd back in the 70’s, when the US was going to switch to the metric system…

  4. In some circles the end of daylight saving time is deemed an attempt by Israelis to oppress our poor Palestinian brethren, who prefer sleeping late.

  5. Thanks for the reminder. Most of my clocks change themselves automatically now, except that damn microwave. Oh well at least my microwave can’t get hacked.

    1. I have a Samsung monitor/digital TV which also changes automatically. Using the older dates of change. (It’s been on Standard Time several weeks now.) Not certain about how to d/l updated firmware to it, and not really sweating it.

  6. My wife is notoriously humor-deprived, but even she appreciated the Daylight Saving trailer. She told me, “Hey, _I’d_ see that movie!”

    1. It was pretty well-done. I liked the researchers writing equations on a glass wall scene.

  7. Most of the complaints about Daylight Savings Time are actually complaints about the time change. I can do without that myself, but I’d prefer going to year round Daytime Time rather than year round Standard Time.

  8. Here in Queensland we don’t do daylight savings because the extra hour of sunlight fades the curtains, cows don’t know when to come in for milking and the chicken’s don’t know when to lay.
