One more for your delectation. The caption reads: “Oh my god, those short hair! Schubert’s boy looks like a girl!”

Re: atheistic cats versus gullible dogs:
Paddy says to Father, “Can I have me auld dog buried in the cemetery, Father?”
The clergyman replies, “No, absolutely not. What are ya thinkin’, Paddy?”
Paddy responds, “Oh well, I’ll just have to bury him in the Presbyterian graveyard. £100 should see to it.”
The priest says, “Oh, Paddy, you never told me he was a Catholic dog.”
All very good. The board room cat cartoon is going up on the refrigerator.
There is a lot of wisdom in that boardroom cat, especially if you consider it in context with the diagnosis of the other cartoon Jerry provided. There is a book on my to read list: The Wisdom of Psychopaths: What Saints, Spies, and Serial Killers Can Teach Us About Success but I think we should really have a book about what we can learn from cats because they really have the answers – after all, we still adore them! 🙂
The question of feline atheism is an interesting one…they are gods, after all, and they know it.

Which would put them in the purrfect position opine on the matter.
And when was the last time that you saw Baihu on two fours at the altar rail, saying “Can I haz Host pls?”
QED
(which is probably Latin for “Where’s that cat?”)
Well, I do frequently see him crouched down, butt in the air, silently saying to himself, “I can haz noms NOW!” And, then, a moment later, his head is between his paws and either his mouth is making crunching sounds as the grasshopper gives up the ghost, or there’s a lizard tail dangling out of the corner of his mouth. Does that count?
…and he’s on my shoulders, keeping them warm and making them bleed. Where else would he be?

Seen this Jerry? On the impact of cats on science, from the NASA/Kepler conference:

Hmm, seems to have embedded the tweet, rather than just give the URL.
They have remorse, or at least guilt. You can tell when our cats are doing something they know is wrong. Watching the wheels turn in the cats head while he’s contemplating attacking the toilet paper roll is hilarious.
That’s not guilt, that’s them wondering exactly what they can get away with.
No sane cat would choose such an uncomfortable position to sleep in, but, as it would appear to be at least 33 years old, perhaps the French kitty is a wee bit senile.
True, but to a cat no position is uncomfortable. A cat would lay lengthways along the length of the TV top.
When was the last time you met a cat who met the human standard of sanity?
b&
Where did I say “sane cat, by human standards”? 🙂
Good point…but does the concept of sanity even apply to cats in the first place?
b&
By their standards, yes.
I’m still not convinced…I think that, whatever it is that their standards apply, it’s not best thought of as sanity.
Cthulhu would probably know what the right term is….
b&
If Cthulhu wants to tell you, I don’t know that you should take that call.
Oh the contrary — that’s the most important call you could possibly answer. If you do, not only will you be eaten first, you might even have the luxury of going insane before you’re eaten.
b&
Not best thought of as sanity? Sure, but that’s by our standards. By their standards, they probably think of us as being, at best, mildly insane or, at least, foolish, if only for our willingness to comply with their wishes.
Surely one measure of a cat’s sanity, is its ability to instantly find the most comfortable / warm / cool place to kip, depending on the prevailing environment?
OK, no feline content (hopefully compensated for by atheism and spiders), but way too good to be able to resist posting on a post about cartoons:
