    1. If you would like to listen to a remarkable recording of “Hard-hearted Hannah(The Vamp Of Savannah)” by Patti Austin, listen to this:

    1. ” would be nice” ? Nice in what way ?

      a “girl” of any ethnicity ‘d be a female human ( DEhuman ? ) 17 years and less, er, … … UNDERage.

What a frickin’ sexist statement. Always. (meant to be humorous or not)

The boots ? The boots, Dr C, are lovely. Stunning. I have a child in El Paso. Likely for Solstice, he would love such footwear, too !

      1. The word “girl” is from the Marty Robbins song, referring to Felina, who dances in Rosa’s. I don’t like sexism on this site, but this is not an example. I take the comment to mean that those boots would be good to wear in Rosa’s.

    2. S o o o, IF one actually .listens. to this song’s lyrics, dissects them in any time’s / any era’s context, how could such a testosteronally laden scenario ( “Felina my love” [ and ‘love’ certainly not in a father / kiddo manner thereof ] ” lay dead on the floor ” ” one chance, … run ” “steals a horse” “runs for it” “bullet … deep in my chest” ] be anything but sexist and violent.

Anywhere ? Not just within a Mexican ethnicity ?

Anymore though: How does .continuing to not call out. such sexism and violence .wherever. it is ( the USA and Mexico continuing to maintain two of the most sexist and violent patriarchies / androcentric cultures ) help to promote. egalitarianism. for over half the human ( the DEhuman ? ) population ?

So asking again, “nice” … … in what way ?

cuz: I .no longer. will remain as is continued by ( very many of / too, too many of the 47% ) to be wanted / to be desired: “nice”

      1. The ballad is structured as a tragedy. Testosterone driven, to be sure, and he dies for it. Is no art to be composed about foolish impulses and their consequences? Then no art is possible.

    3. Because of your mention of this recording, which I did know of, I spent the afternoon becoming acquainted with more Marty Robbins recordings on youtube. I am so impressed with the voice, the musicians, the background singers, etc. The subtle and exquisite sounds are intoxicating. “Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs” album: superb. What a voice. What a guitar.

  1. I never had a desire to wear cowboy boots until you started posting your pics. Your enthusiasm is rubbing off.

What would make a good first pair?

      1. I’d like som something to go with dark dress jeans or possibly a gray or dark colored suit. So I’m thinking black on the boots.

I’d rather not go on ebay, since I think I’d like to try something on first.

        1. Yes, black is always safe. The problem with buying boots locally is that there aren’t many cities in the U.S. (save in the West) that have a good selection, and stores are also very overpriced compared to either eBAY or even online ordering. Also, boots aren’t cheap, so for a good pair of plain black boots that will last for decades with resoling and occasional heel cap replacement, you’ll pay about $400-500. You might go to a boot store and just find out what size you are by trying some on first (I’d recommend trying a pair of Luccheses, as the size is pretty general, though some companies, like Stanley, make the standard sizes but they are narrower. There are lots of cheap-ass boots on the market that are expensive, but once you have your size there are places online where you can get very good quality at a decent price.

  2. – the look like implements of torture to me….

“put his feet in these boots – that’ll make him squeal…”
