Meanwhile, in Dobrzyn, Hili – unusually for a cat, in my experience – appears to be suffering from insomnia:
Me: What are you doing?
Hili: I’m trying to fall asleep, but I’m not doing it very well.
In Polish:
Ja: co robisz?
Hili: Próbuję zasnąć, ale marnie mi to idzie.

Thought I would get this up under Hili early. The Heterodox Conference session videos are being posted. The session on DEI is up. It is 1:18 including q&a and allows for discussion of some of the complexities of various implemented dei programs. I think that I have noted before that there are some fundamental purposes of dei thinking that I think are important, but that many if not most implementations bastardized those purposes and turned dei into an independent ideological enterprise. There never seemed to be a productive discussion of purpose at institutions and a follow on creation of a proper program. So trump just killed the whole thing, potentially throwing out a useful baby with the bathwater. This happened just as some reasonable and responsible faculty were starting to create associations, such as Prof Pinker at Harvard, which could provide a proper fix.
In any case fundamental dei issues are discussed by three speakers at about 20 minutes each followed bt q&a. I learned something from the hour investment. Video should be at url
Thanks, Jim. Like Hili, I’m up with insomnia and this looks interesting. And where has Szaron been hiding, I wonder?
This is not about lunch
Guess who is coming to the United States? Only the most famous Polish person of all time! Lech Walesa is coming to the United States.
Solidarność!
Interesting to speculate whether iDJT will ignore him, or insult him.
(And FWIW, surely Mikołaj Kopernik (1473–1543) is much more famous, under his Latinised name.)
