  1. Nope. Heard it from Axios first! Neener neener poddy woddy, to employ a standard Trumpian triumphal expression.
I might sigh with relief, but whether the sequelae will be comical or frightening remains a tad too uncertain for comfort.

    1. Yep. I’m a bit worried about that actually.

But I am not so proud as to deny that, right now, a part of me is delighted to know that somewhere, on a desolate stretch of Virginia golf course, a giant turd of a human is wandering, isolated from his handlers, alone, ranting and fuming and eating his heart out. Yes indeed, I feel the warmth of that.

  2. I have a bottle of Rotkäppchen Sekt in the refrigerator. I just wanted to enjoy it tonight in a relaxed way.

But now I’m going to toast to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

    Congratulations!

        1. Ms Harris’ mother was ‘Indian’ from Southern India, Mr Curtis was an ‘Amerindian’, a ‘Native American’.

  3. Hurrah! I’m having a drink in Edinburgh to celebrate. Tough times to come, of course, but this is a great victory. Congrats, America, though it was too close for my liking. Vive la République Américaine!

  4. This is unbelievably good news.

There will of course be massive problems for the US in the coming years, but however bad it gets, it would have been much worse had that idiot won.

  5. Just remember that Professor Ceiling Cat (Emeritus) was the first to call the election

Happy to do that. As long as everybody remembers I was the person who coyned the term “President Eject”.

  6. A suggested Trump end-game speech—not
so different, I would guess, from what we will soon hear—can be enjoyed at:

Sample: “Counting. These un-American monsters just want to count. It’s all you hear about from the fake media: Count, count, count, COUNT, COUNT. Count, count, count.

And you know what they do? They say that if you count all the votes and there are more votes for Biden than there are for Trump, then Biden wins the state. Can you believe that? It’s a fraud. It’s cheating. It’s math, and you know who else uses math? Globalists. Evil, evil people who want to destroy us and all of the 58 states that make up our great nation.”

  7. With a 4+ million popular vote lead, it should not have been this close. Anxiously awaiting vote counts from scattered counties in AZ and NV. Ridiculous. The Electoral College must go, or be reformed to have the Electors determined in proportion to popular vote rather than winner take all.

    1. Putin will not give a damn. Agent Orange has not done a good job, because he could not even manipulate a simple presidential election as Putin had done in the past.

  8. My prediction on November 2nd matches the current situation almost exactly but I imagine Biden will win more electoral votes. IMO, it was an excellent prediction. I said

“The most likely scenario is that things continuing to turn in Trump’s direction with Pennsylvania being the decisive state. It will be a few days to a week before the count is decided there. Left wing rioting will occur during this time.

I expect Biden to be projected the winner 279-259 on November 9th. I expect Trump to claim voting fraud and China using coronavirus to sabotage him but from him to leave office peacefully. I expect his supporters to follow suit with lots of kvetching and armed but mostly peaceful protests. There will be more antifa riots (e.g. in Portland and a few other cities) than riot wing violence.”

  9. Former President Obama’s message of this Day:

“I could not be prouder to congratulate our next President, Joe Biden, and our next First Lady, Jill Biden.

I also couldn’t be prouder to congratulate Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff for Kamala’s groundbreaking election as our next Vice President.

In this election, under circumstances never experienced, Americans turned out in numbers never seen. And once every vote is counted, President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris will have won a historic and decisive victory.

We’re fortunate that Joe’s got what it takes to be President and already carries himself that way. Because when he walks into the White House in January, he’ll face a series of extraordinary challenges no incoming President ever has – a raging pandemic, an unequal economy and justice system, a democracy at risk, and a climate in peril.

I know he’ll do the job with the best interests of every American at heart, whether or not he had their vote. So I encourage every American to give him a chance and lend him your support. The election results at every level show that the country remains deeply and bitterly divided. It will be up to not just Joe and Kamala, but each of us, to do our part – to reach out beyond our comfort zone, to listen to others, to lower the temperature and find some common ground from which to move forward, all of us remembering that we are one nation, under God.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who worked, organized, and volunteered for the Biden campaign, every American who got involved in their own way, and everybody who voted for the first time. Your efforts made a difference. Enjoy this moment. Then stay engaged. I know it can be exhausting. But for this democracy to endure, it requires our active citizenship and sustained focus on the issues – not just in an election season, but all the days in between.

Our democracy needs all of us more than ever. And Michelle and I look forward to supporting our next President and First Lady however we can. ” = http://www.facebook.com/barackobama

    1. MY TOAST to Dr Jill Biden, the F I R S T
First Lady who earned a doctorate. She, too,
      plans to become the F I R S T First Lady

her newest home … … concurrently with its
      First Lady – duties.

Also try, really really swiftly, saying
this twister in re Mr Emhoff nine or ten times: First Second Gentleman.

    2. The current government of the State of
California will select for the United States’
Senate the person to fill Vice President –
