The readers’ wildlife photo tank is running low, though I still have some pictures, but we’ll take a hiatus today and play “spot the nightjar”—with a snake. Matthew sent me a copy of this tw**t by Kelly O’Connor (a researcher at Florida’s Archbold Biological Station), and I’ve enlarged the photo. Can you spot the snake? I’d call this one medium-hard, but there are many sharp-eyed readers.
I’ll put up the reveal at noon.
Looked but nada.
Got it. I can only hint maybe, if you are right handed.
The hint “almost stepped on” is not that helpful. 🙂
I think I found it, something that looks like a snake body, but where is the bitey end of the snake!
I like it when you talk sciencey.
haha
Found it.! one of the times I have been successful.lol
I see him. Had to embiggen the picture quite a bit.
Got it. But it is the snakes you don’t see that you need to think about.
I think i spotted it ,do i tell now ?.
If it’s poisonous, I’m dead.
Relay. Someone will come by and suck out the poison. Depending of course on where you were bitten.
It is one way to find out who are your true friends.
Yes, it always reminds me of the story about the two guys walking in the desert when one of them get bitten on the backside. The other guy says, all you have to do is take your knife and cut a cross, and then suck the blood out. Otherwise you will die. The bitten fellow says yes but what about me. The other guys says: Well, you are going to die.
