Once again: Read Da Roolz

I know that new people are always coming on board here, but they may be unaware of the rules for posting (see “Da Roolz” on the left sidebar or here), which emphasize civility toward one’s host (i.e., ME) and toward your fellow commenters.

If you’re new here, and aren’t aware of the commenting policy, do read those rules. If you violate them, you may be mildly warned (either on this site or in a private email), asked to apologize (and if you don’t, you’re gone), or just flat-out banned. Incivility is the prime banning offense, followed by obtuseness.  And please do not dominate a thread; the guidelines for that are also laid out in the rules.

  2. A subtitle on the menu like “posting guidelines” might be helpful in directing readers.

  3. It shouldn’t really be necessary to have to read ‘da roolz’. They seem to me to be little more than common sense and decency.

    Then again…….

    1. Come now….how long have we been on the internet? It’s like reading that sign back there that said private road. Anyway, if you ever had something that was opened to the public for free, there is no g*d to help you.

    2. I have to check the rules before I post a video link to get the HTML code so that the video is not embedded. And I still screw up.

      2. Heh, I did that the other day myself. Sometimes I forget that this is literally the only site I comment on where a video link automatically embeds (then again, I don’t comment on many sites).

  5. Sorry, Dr. Coyne. For anything/everything, in general. 2016 was one of the worst years ever. Maybe we can follow Da Roolz by saying: “What John Oliver said!” May 2017 be an improvement for all.

    1. I wish John Oliver would follow his own rules. I liked him on the Daily Show, but on his own show he has become unbearably smug.

  6. Happy New Year to you and all your readers as well! A bit off topic, but I am a regular and silent follower of your blog. I recently (just right now in fact) read an article titled “Did Einstein Really Believe in God?” (https://gadgtecs.com/2017/01/02/einstein-believed-god/) and I know you have written on similar stuff and refuted the creationist arguments, but in that article, the author is very convincing (with proper references). Was just wondering if you want write a counter or give an answer etc.

  7. One thing that I have noticed is that some folks try to skirt da Roolz by saying things like:

    “I am thinking all of these horrible things about you but I won’t break da Roolz and spell it out”

    It’s just a sneaky way of insulting people who disagree.

    1. Yes. All this “thank god 2016 is over” stuff doesn’t make much sense if you think about it, considering all the awful things that were voted for in 2016 are actually going to happen this year.
