Stephen Knight spotted an iguana when checking into his hotel in Tulum, Mexico. I put up the quiz earlier, and now here’s the reveal. Did you find it?
This appears to be a black spiny-tailed iguana, or Ctenosaura similis. Readers can correct me if I’m wrong, as it may be a green iguana.

The giveaway was the chap looking at it!
Yes, I saw that after I spotted the iguana, thought I should mention it – but as you say, a giveaway.
Definitely a Ctenosaurus.
First place I looked. It’s exactly where Cook Islands geckos like to hang out.
Incidentally, while googling ‘Rarotonga gecko’ to check that the cute little lizards I see everywhere in motel ceilings are in fact geckos (they are), I came across several writers who were apparently terrified by them. I find this hard to comprehend. I have the horrors of some creeping things (centipedes, mostly) – but little lizards?

In a few second I couldn’t see it, but you capture it brilliantly!
I was expecting a lounge lizard.
