Lone Star Book Festival, Houston, et moi

March 25, 2016 • 10:30 am

Just one more notice that I’ll be appearing at the Lone Star Book Festival in Houston on April 9; the time and venue (John Pickelman Student Conference Center; SCC) are below, and you can get more information here.  I’ll be having a conversation about Faith Versus Fact with Dan Barker, who has his own new book, and we’ll answer audience questions. There will be a book signing, and if you mention the Latin name for one wild felid endemic to Texas (house cats don’t count), you can get a cat drawn in your book.

I love the fish logo they designed for my appearance:

Lone Star

And of course there will be noms: barbecue and a surprise.

    1. I like it, too. I remember hearing an evolution debate in which the creationist was chastising the person defending evolution for actually dissing religion, not just promoting evolution.

The evolution defender was saying no, that isn’t true, we can all get along but was caught when the creationist asked if he’d seen the fish symbol sprouting feet.

This fish symbol leaves little doubt about it. Yay.

    2. I’d love a vinyl decal like that for my car.

Your friends at DarwinFish.com have an order form for you. Though their UK associates (I don’t know the exact relationship) also have a DawkinsFish which may attract too.
There are now 3 cars which have departed my hands with various DarwinFish attached.

      1. Good on you mate!! You beat me!! I’m on my second car with the DARWIN fish.

        1. There’s a spaghetti monster on my sister’s car too. Hail the Noodly Appendage!

          1. (Incidentally, the wife and I went to see the new Coen Brothers film, “Hail, Caesar!” ; decent enough comedy, didn’t ask for two hours of my life back. But not a first-rank Coen.Bros film.)

  1. O my, my … … my, my, my:
quite a perfect design as re incompatibilities !

    And deeeep inside the State of T E X A S, too !

    Whoa !
    Blue

  2. Good luck with the talk.

I love the logo too. I’ve seen similar versions where the larger fish has ‘Darwin’ written in the fish instead of ‘Science’. Works either way.
