Jerry is in wooville! I know, I know it’s mostly just my family that is wooish there.
The loverly Berzerkeley hills, where I had many a romp in my yoof;-)
If you’ll be strolling the grounds of Berkeley, you might find my friend Carolyn Dougherty’s multi-part Loafer’s Guide interesting to have handy. A compendium of all the buildings on campus, who designed them, who they were named for, and that person’s distinction.
Having just returned from my first trip to San Francisco, I’ll certainly be interested in Jerry’s trip report.
My quick impressions where:
1. Good city for foodies.
2. Beautiful and diverse as everyone says it is.
3. Tour of Alcatraz is a must do.
4. It’s really, really true what everyone told me before going: bring a jacket! The unpredictability of the weather continually had me off balance in my time there.
5. I didn’t realize how much Krazee there was in San Francisco. Just the amount of destitute and mentally unbalanced, at every turn. We spent most of the time on public transport, and I doubt there was a single ride that did not feature a “please don’t sit near us” character, be it someone beating his head and swearing, eating off the floor, talking, laughing to herself, you name it.
Had fun though. I’m really curious where Jerry ate 🙂
A beautiful city.
Many native San Franciscans refer to Berkeley as Berserkly. Oakland is not to be mentioned in mixed company and Los Angeles is considered the other side of the Moon (I am a native Angeleno).
Looks like you took those pictures from the Lawrence Hall of Science parking lot. Excellent view of the bay from there.
Is that a lake in the background or an inlet of the sea?
Re Dominic @ #8
That’s San Francisco Bay. The bridge in the background is the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge.
