Make sure to watch all the way to the end of the video.
Am I missing something?
Is the one at 7:10 different from the one at 4:40?
From the groveling at the end:
“I knew how destructive religion could be – you know, the shame, the guilt, the fear, the misogyny, the sadism, the poor grammar…”
Good begging segment, too.
mrflfrfl… damn. check. box.
This gives us a clear idea of the motivation of evangelicals — weird, age-age guy dominance. Does he have a southern accent?
“God” looks like them – with glasses even.
That should be “mid-age” not “age age.”
I just want to point out that Mr Deity should be able to f*ck himself — and perfectly at that.
Hitch-lap – to jog around the heaven in order to see who can be hitch-slapped.
Too bad one shouldn’t give out spoilers, but it’s a good text. And – they have changed the ending! I didn’t use to watch these much, since the money part, however necessary, was coming on so strong and boringly formulaic. But this was a nice change of pace!
I got the “I love Lucy” joke, but couldn’t make out what “Lucie” was doing to Jerry Falwell.
Is “God” channelling Adam Savage? No, wrong number of eyebrows.
The advert … is a spoof on US TV religious advertising? Thank Hitch I’ve got a fast-forward button in real TV (and work hard to avoid American TV too).
Mr. Deity is a long running series that is well worth the time. Check out http://mrdeity.com
(Brian Dalton is a former Mormon. I’m happy to send him $5 per month to keep him going.)
Lucy is Lucifer, she is the moral heart of the show, irony intended. She is keeping Falwell on a catheter permanently 🙂
In an older episode, Lucy (Lucifer) was describing what she’s created with this “hell” thing, and talked about the “catheter room.” She described taking a catheter and shoving it in and out and in and out and in and out…
She had such a strong, and well controlled personna, what was the childhood reality that drove her?
Ricky was a sex addict and abusive right?
I don’t think Lucy in Mr. Deity is based at all on Lucy Ball. Or Lucy in the Sky, either.
Great intro to Mr Deity, Lucy and all the good folk at Heavencorp.god. I’ll repost through FBook etc. Just what I needed. And thanks to Grania for letting us know who Lucy was.
Reblogged this on emmageraln.
Hitch is the only person who could go to heaven, debate God, and walk away thoroughly
unimpressed with omniscience.
Hitchens would likely be thoroughly impressed with omniscience if he found it but none of the christian doGs would have it even if they existed. IDiocy matters.
Heck, when I saw the email in my inbox thought I was going to see Morgan Freeman in a white suit doing the interview…!!
Thanks for the gift of laughter!
ammm…
I thought Hitch was going to be in the scene – it looked just like him from the back (when he had hair).
Why has the video become ‘currently unavailable”?
Dunno, but you can pull it up at YouTube
oops.. I didn’t mean to embed it, just to provide the url.

Are you using Firefox? They are in a format dispute which causes much grief with videos and gave me that same message a lot. There are still some areas where Firefox works better for me, but when I want to access videos I use Chrome.
I thought maybe they’d had old Hitch record a cameo before he died, but this was pretty funny. It’s rather deft, the way they capture the absurdity of religious thinking. P.Z. once did a cameo, Michael Shermer as well, and both were great in the funny little skits.
And the fact that Almighty GOD is portrayed as wearing stylish eyeglasses and a goatee is something that never stops being funny to me. You’d think He’d at least get LASIK, right?
