Did you spot all three California tree frogs in this morning’s photo? Here’s the “reveal” shot, with the three amphibians circled by Robert Lang:
I wonder why the tree frogs are sitting on the rock. There doesn’t seem to be any food there.
They have to rest somewhere when they’re not feeding, and what better place than a rock that matches their camouflage? (And I think they “know” it’s a good place to rest. There are lots of boulders of various colors in the stream bed, and I never saw the frogs hanging out on the black mafic boulders; they were always on matching granite.)
I failed to find the frogs.
But I did spot a member of that elusive species, homo sapiens, and from nothing more than the tips of their cute pink toes. That should count for something, right?
OK, glad to know my frogs were on target. This was a good setup. One obvious frog, there other two not so much. Again, thanks. And I endorse the toes comment, above.
