I think that you basilisk is actually the closely-related helmeted iguana – https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Corytophanes
They are a lot slower than basilisks, tending to rely upon camouflage, and to the best of my knowledge, they can’t or don’t perform the walking-on-water manoeuvre.
