Reader Ephraim Heller sends some lovely photos from his safari in Tanaznia in April 2025. Emphraim’s captions are indented, and you can enlarge the photos by clicking on them.
Today’s photos focus on lions (Panthera leo). [JAC: I especially love this one]:

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.
I especially like #1 (silhouette) and #4 (dawn or dusk?)
Is that a hyena hoping to steal her kill?
Yes indeed, there was a pack of hyenas circling around the lions. I’m glad you liked the photos!
Gorgeous, beautiful – indeed the silhouette is simple yet powerful… the eye is drawn in to see the glint off the boulder, revealing not a perfect silhouette, it’s like a very find gradient … there’s a morning feel …
Really wonderful…
Yes!
+3!
It makes me happy when others enjoy my photos. Thanks!
A wonderful set of photos – thanks!
Very nice pictures, thanks!
Photo #1 is just so good, almost as if you’d asked them to pose for you!

Beautiful and evocative! Thank you.

Loving them!
Great set, interesting. Thanks.
Wonderful pics, Ephraim, thanks for sharing!
And the moral of the story is, children, if a lion is chasing you, don’t climb a tree to try to get away!
Great picture. Thank you!
Beautiful!
Oh, my goodness. How many sets of lions’ ears am I seeing on that boulder outcropping? I believe I’m counting 10! These are spectacular. What a lovely late night treat for my eyes.
Beautiful pix. I love the one of the eight (?) lions on a rock. Thanks.
