Jesus ‘n’ Mo ‘n’ the divine pipeline

Today’s Jesus and Mo strip, called “conduit,” came with the caption, “To be fair, he did make that clear.” And once again we see two of the prime features of Mo’s character: hypocrisy and cluelessness.

In case you’ve forgotten your religious history, yes, the Qur’an was dictated to Muhammad, but through a primary conduit: an angel. As Wikipedia notes:

Muslims believe the Quran was orally revealed by God to the final Islamic prophet Muhammad through the angel Gabriel incrementally over a period of some 23 years, beginning on the Laylat al-Qadr, when Muhammad was 40, and concluding in 632, the year of his death. Muslims regard the Quran as Muhammad’s most important miracle, a proof of his prophethood, and the culmination of a series of divine messages starting with those revealed to the first Islamic prophet Adam, including the holy books of the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel in Islam.

And heeeere’s the Divine Duo:

  1. The same kind of nonsense that permeates all of these religions. The infinitely powerful divine word of god, governing all of creation and the existence of every living creature, but still only important enough to be communicated in fables, parables, allegory, and a generally incomprehensible mish-mash of fragmented messages and inconsistent narratives, and in each case to only one small segment of mankind.

In this case the word of god, which apparently has always existed but until the seventh century was not a priority to make humanity aware of, has reached such urgency that an angel communicates it directly to… one human. And dribbles it out to him in his spare time over a period of twenty-three years. Okay…
