I’m sort of late this year, but if you can send me a photo of your cat in a Christmas theme, and also a few words about the cat (including its name), I’ll try to put these up tomorrow.
I just realized that Chanukah and Christmas and Coynezaa all begin on the same day this year. The latter two are by definition, but the coincidence of Chanukah and Christmas occurs only rarely.
If you don’t know where to send them, look at the left hand sidebar and click on “How to send me wildlife photos.”
NOTE: I can use only one photo per contributor, so please send just one.
My mother told me that the maintenance manager at her retirement home informed her that this is exactly the 100th time that the first day of Chanukah and Christmas have coincided. (Of course) I didn’t believe it and tried to look it up. It occurs rarely, as Jerry says (https://www.jpost.com/judaism/article-833519)—about five times per century (https://time.com/7200054/hanukkah-christmas-same-date-history/). Determining the exact number would be difficult, if not impossible, as both the Hebrew calendars and the calendars in the west have changed. Also, we don’t know exactly when the holiday of Christmas started. (See here: https://www.britannica.com/topic/Christmas). But, at roughly five times per century, my mother’s maintenance man might not be far off!
It’s amazing what one learns by hanging out here!
