Caturday felid trifecta: Man builds special play space for moggies; law firm hires cat as a lawyer; new cyberpunk video cat game

This story of devotion to cat welfare comes from The Dodo: click on the screenshot to read:

The massive construction project came after Derek Roche’s girlfriend got a cat, and he fell in love with it. Then there were two more cats, and then a “play space”:

When Jellli suddenly started having health issues, she became more reserved and hesitant, and Roche knew that an outdoor play space was more important than ever to help her cope with her issues and gain some of her confidence back. Roche and his girlfriend adopted two more cats who also loved being outside, which sealed the deal, and Roche officially began working on building his cats the coolest outdoor play space ever.

From the moment they saw it, Jellli and her brother Smudge absolutely adored their new outdoor space. Their sister Penny took a few extra days to warm up to it, but now she loves it, and is probably out there the most out of the three. They love spending all day playing out there together and taking naps in the various corners, and Roche is so glad that all his hard work paid off.

Well, so be it. These are people who love their moggies!

Here’s a video tale of Dr. Leon Avogado, a stray kitten who wandered into some law offices in Brazil and didn’t want to leave. Some sourpusses complained about a stray cat in the building, whereupon the law offices appointed the kitten as The Official Greeter, complete with an ID badge. Then he got a promotion and was named Dr. Leon Avogato (Dr. Leon Lawyer).

And of course Dr. Leon has his own Instagram page; click screenshot to go there (the translation is “I’m Leon, the Lawyer hired by OAB / AP. At the request of the fans we created our profile. Help our Institute to strengthen animal protection NGOs.”

Here’s Leon’s official symbol on a request for donations to Leon’s upcoming animal rescue institute (I like the black nose stripe, and Leon is clearly part or fully Siamese):

I’m not exactly sure what Cyberpunk is, but it’s the theme or format of a new video game from Annapurna. Read about it by clicking on the link below from GameSpot:

The announcement is brief (below), but you can watch the trailer (also below):

During Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event, Annapurna Interactive showed off its next game, Stray. It’s apparently set in a post-human world where cats have survived–and you happen to play as one. The trailer showed off an adorable feline in the rusted, clanking world of robots. It’s coming in 2021.

The cinematic trailer didn’t give many details, but it gave us a good idea of the feel of the world. The cat appears to be wearing a backpack-like harness.

  1. Stray, the cat video game, has been reported on before by you back in 2017:

I think I sent you the link back then but I’m not absolutely sure about that. I did know about it.

Since we hadn’t heard about it in years and there was very little activity on the HK website, I assumed it would never see the light of day. It’s good to see that it is featured on the new Playstation. Let’s hope they actually release it.

  2. That is some cat house. Probably most of the wood, 1X6 & 2X4 is treated and has some kind of stain on the wood. The foundation looks a little shaky but may be okay. Could never get it by the HOA where I live but that’s a good reason not to live here. If that cats like it that is what matters.

  3. BTW, there’s another cat video game being worked on: “Peace Island”. It’s about an imaginary island in Maine where nine cats awake one morning to find that all their humans have inexplicably disappeared. The goal of the game is to survive and to find out what happened to the humans. There is a video here. The graphics are quite beautiful and very different from those of Stray. Check it out!

    1. Seems the gamers are eager to get rid of people. Maybe so they won’t be disturbed while gaming.

  4. According to Wikipedia: “Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction in a dystopian futuristic setting that tends to focus on a ‘combination of low-life and high tech’ featuring advanced technological and scientific achievements, such as artificial intelligence and cybernetics, juxtaposed with a degree of breakdown or radical change in the social order”.

    1. Yes, You can see the top of the tower at the back in the 2nd picture. Amazing! And an association might allow because most of the “cat house” looks like the house’s architecture!

  5. That is adorable! The name of the cat is a pun. Lawyer in Portuguese is Advogado and cat is gato.
