Nearly everyone on my Facebook feed is posting anti-Trump stuff, and in response I post kitten videos, which counteract the Bad Vibes of the Prez. But here’s one anti-Trump opera I find hilarious. It’s five minutes of political music.
The credits:
Believe it or not, in an aria with so many words, we actually still did not manage to fit in everything we wanted to say about “45”!
Singers: Rebecca Nelsen (1st and 3rd) and Eric Stoklossa

Special thanks to SNL and Adam Sandler’s “Operaman” for the inspiration.
h/t: Don B.
Bravissimo!
Brilliant, if we could get one for May, my life would be compolete.
Complete.!! I’ll never listen to Largo Factotum in the same way again.lol
I saw this a few days ago and can’t stop caterwauling Trumpo cheeeetaaaaaah🎶 It’s brilliant!
Had to check up ‘caterwauling’: from middle Dutch ‘cater’ (= tomcat, ‘kater’ still used in modern Dutch, but it can also mean ‘hangover’😆) and old English ‘wawan’ to blow or howl, like the wind, related to ‘wail’).
Thanks for that word, hope to use it one of these days….
Glad to be of service, Nicky. The word has been used more than once to refer to my enthusiastic but off-tune singing.
Twelfth Night
MARIA
“What a caterwauling do you keep here! If my lady have not called up her steward Malvolio and bid him turn you out of doors, never trust me.”
Perfect!
Just saw a brilliant Twelfth Night from National Theatre ( live from the Old Vic, at the movies) which featured a female MalvoliA and a Sir Toby Belch channeling Keef Richard. Wonderful physical comedy!
The subtitle shown as cheetah in the vid should really have been “città,” Italian for city and pronounced cheetah with accent on 2nd syllable. It makes much more sense, considering the images it accompanies, as “Trump city.”
Besides, in the original aria, it is Figaro who is saying make way for factotum of the city (Largo al factotum della città).
Extraordinarily clever video, nonetheless.
Damn! Can’t believe I forgot it was città! Only seen the opera around 10 times…
But I think cheetah–>orange cheetoh works well, too.
Della città, della città, trumpo cheetaaaaaaahh
🎶🙀
Now I REALLY can’t get it out of my head😱
Thanks for this. Absolutely delightful.
Ah, I momentarily feel better. I thank thee.
BTW, Sean Carroll is now posting pics, gifs and videos of his two cute kittens nearly every day on Twitter.
This is great. I heard an interview with Rebecca Nelsen on the Michelangeloo Signorile show this week. She lives in Austria and probably won’t be coming back any time soon. I can’t say I blame her. Plus opera singers probably fare much better in Europe…just a hunch.
Nicely done!
Brilliant.
Wonderful! Like Adam Sandler’s old “Opera Man” skits on SNL (except with honest-to-Rossini talent!).
Trump bouffe.
She actually cites Sandler’s “Opera Man” for giving her inspiration.
Excellent.
Very nice!
Loved the political opera Jerry but encourage the further posting of kittens.

I just draw cats in response. Angry cats.
It is truly amazing how humor can make the most depressing situation seem bearable. I think I’ll share this to lift the spirits of some friends.
You are absolutely right
This is genius! Love it. 😀
Where’s the link to the report? I think my house IS making me fat.
Fantasrico!
I was alerted to this a couple of days ago and was going to notify Jerry but see others beat me to it. Now if you enjoyed Il Trumpo at the opera, watch the newest Broadway musical “Covfefe.” That is equally hilarious and is put to many of the old (ancient) show tunes from Broadway prior(mostly)to the 1950s. It follows “The Barber. . .” on the same website.
Wonderful! The only problem is the performance of Il Barbiere I go to will see me sniggering loudly, which is frowned upon in opera houses…
Eclore! Encore!
Here’s an amusing take on Covfefe by Randy Rainbow. He does it to Broadway themes:
