A year ago, reader Benjamin Taylor went on a camping trip around southern Africa (Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia) and took lots of photos. I’m continuing his series today, and his captions are indented. There are bonus kittens!
Tawny eagle (Aquila rapax).
A white-backed vulture (Gyps africanus) on its nest.
Common impala (Aepyceros melampus), Chobe National Park, Botswana.

Camp kittens!
African savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana) wading in the Chobe River.
Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer), Chobe National Park, Botswana.
Nile crocodiles (Crocodylus niloticus), Chobe National Park, Botswana.

They are quite beautiful. To my eyes, they are exotic , and that distance stimulates our admiration and appreciation. The kittens are not exotic, but they are equally to be admired.
Great pics! And the kittens are so adorable! What a wonderful experience your trip must have been.
Is that a cattle egret snagging an amuse bouche, or more properly, an amuse bec, from the buffalo?
Photos of African wildlife are my favorite. Thanks for this great offering! Love the B&W photo of the white-backed vulture. The impala’s horns look dangerous.
Beautiful shot of the impala! Such a stunning animal.
Loved seeing these.
I grew up in Zambia and have visited Zimbabwe and Botswana so these brought back some lovely memories.
More please!
Beautiful photos! Thanks!
Enjoyed the wildlife and kitten photos as usual!
