Let’s end the week with Kuli, the Surfing Cat. Apparently, as you can see from the second video, Kuli went into the ocean of his own accord. And why not? As second video notes, Kuli was brought up in constant contact with water because of his messy eating habits, and from there, the sky—or rather, the sea—is the limit!
Here’s the YouTube description:
Surf’s up for this floating feline! A cat has been seen out in the surf, riding on the backs of its owners.
Nankuli, known as Kuli, the cat, from Honolulu, Hawaii, has been surfing with owners Alexandra Gomez and Krista Littleton for over a year after they rescued the on-eyed moggy.
Kuli, whose name means to look blind, was adopted weighing only one pound, but has gone on to become an expert in riding the waves.
Note that Kuli has a safe space! He’s a snowflake!
Finally, some full surfing footage from National Geographic. He looks a little scared at first.

Looks like Kuli is ready for North Shore.
Ha ha! I thought that right away – why Waikiki? Go to North Shore! Way nicer. Both times I’ve been there, there have been warnings though and people were not allowed in the water. But, it was around December when the high waves occur.
Ahhhhh I miss Hawaii. It’s one of my favourite places to go.
Wow. Must get back to my favorite place on earth. Kali is living the life.
I’m not sure Kuli really enjoys surfing or whether “tolerates” might be a more accurate descriptor. It does look like fun!
Hang 10 (8?)
he dosnt look all that happy to me – I see him meow maybe a complaint?? – possibly it’s ecstasy but I am doubtful. At least he has a life!
Add me to the doubtful list. I think Kuli has resigned himself to his fate. The ears pinned back & close to the ground gait are not signs of enjoyment.
Second that. This kitty is not enjoying his ride.
Kuli’s coloration suggests that she might be of Turkish Van origin, a breed that seems to enjoy swimming as opposed to other cats
Stay safe, catty
No claws on the girl’s shoulders??
Go! Go! Kitten Impossible!
