Good morning! It’s my favorite day of the week, or at least, it will be once it gets to going-home-time.
Today was the birthday of violinist and conductor Yehudi Menuhin (1916) , a giant among musicians of the 20th century. Here he is playing Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 5.
Over in Dobrzyń there is one Extremely Important topic of conversation. I don’t think Hili would approve of vegans.
Cyrus: Do you know what they are having for dinner?
Hili: Some vegetarian food with the addition of meat.
Cyrus: Wiesz już co oni mają dziś na obiad?
Hili: Jakieś wegetariańskie jedzenie z dodatkiem mięsa.
Gus has scored an own-goal. This is possibly embarrassing, but cats regret nothing so it probably won’t bother him in the slightest.
[JAC: I’m adding this tw**t that Matthew found. I have no idea if these cats are all baked, but it’s funny]
Lets plant catnip, he said. It prevents mosquitoes, he said. What could go wrong, he said. #cats pic.twitter.com/5bQjAHlrpi

Do you really hate your job so much? surely not! 🙁
I saw Menuhin conduct a number of times in the 1980s I think – not sure I saw him play. He was certainly the only musician whose – memorable! – name I knew when I was a child. He hated police/ambulance sirens, & i agree. They are far too loud.
I love loud sirens. They haul you from your sleep and allow you time to fix the problem. Or get away. Or, alternatively, they communicate, in a very unambiguous way, the message “get out of my way, now”.
OK, given my ‘druthers, I’druther have the 02:00 scratch on the door than the 03:00 blaring klaxon and the delicate call of “this is not a drill.” But they both beat waking up dead.
I gather that some people use sound for entertainment.
Perhaps you do not live close enough to a busy road to be bothered – I am awoken every other night by them in bloody London! 🙁
I grew up on a main road, with ambulances and police cars going past every hour. I live on another such but with twice the frequency (there is a “pre-positioning” location for ambulances a few hundred metres away. You learn to live with these things, or you leave.
I enjoyed playing the two films simultaneously.
Looks like it’s 4:20 for the cats! 🙂
He was Nigel Kennedys Mentor at the Royal College.
Menuhin was ballistic. He could play anything.
I wish catnip did that to me.
Gus has got Taksin (?) trained as well asn any puppy trains their hoomins.
