The weather is turning cooler in Chicago—I didn’t need to sleep with the fan on last night—and so presages the arrival of fall, and then winter. And so we move inexorably graveward, with our progress marked by the changing weather. Meanwhile in Dobrzyn, Ms. Hili is once again conflating prey with The Big Questions:
Hili: I’m astounded.
A: What is so astounding?
Hili: The secret of the meaning of life for that moving thing over there.
In Polish:
Hili: Zdumiewa mnie.
Ja: Co cię zdumiewa?
Hili: Tajemnica sensu życia tego co tam chodzi.

Hili shows a certain amount of empathy. Nay, sympathy. At least her mirror neurons are firing.
Someone give that man a cat!
Pessimist. Not all falls end up in death ; sometimes you only get 6 months in a spinal splint and traction.
And it was just starting to feel like spring….that being said I’m in Houston right now where it is supposed to hit 104F today (that’s 40 in real numbers).
A mere 104°F — heaven!
It’s 93°F right now…but it looks like there’s a thunderstorm about to roll over, so there might actually be a bit of respite…but, of course, that just means the 108°F we’ll likely get in the afternoon will come with extra humidity….

At 24C the temperature is perfect but my body isn’t anymore. With the medication I’m taking providing me with the fun side effect of hot flashes and night sweats, I have a ceiling fan on & spend most of the night waking up to take the covers off, then put them on, then put one leg out, then all legs in, then some of my body, then the whole body under the covers. It’s cruel & unusual punishment.
Too bad we can’t exchange our bodies for fresh new vat-grown ones, or use magic Transporter technology to fix everything, or make use of any of the other favorite SF fantasies….

All my sympathies with that, Diana. It’s bad enough when it comes naturally.
