Saturday: Hili dialogue and Leon lagniappe

August 8, 2015 • 5:34 am

The weekend is here, and we’ll celebrate with a special post, as it’s Leon’s first “birthday”. But first, the Furry Princess of Poland is up to her usual activities: wheedling for noms:

Hili: Are we going to sit here much longer?
A: Why do you ask?
Hili: Because I wonder whether we shouldn’t go to the kitchen.

P1030178In Polish:

Hili: Długo tu jeszcze będziemy siedzieli?
Ja: Dlaczego pytasz?
Hili: Bo zastanawiam się, czy nie powinniśmy pójść do kuchni.
And today is exactly one year since Leon found his Forever Home. He celebrates with two monologues:
Leon: Exactly a year ago I left Adoptive Corner Chiron-Wet to take possession of this house. They are trying to spoil me a bit too much but I manage. The most important thing is that the bowls are full. Here is how I looked.

But his staff doesn’t seem to appreciate the Momentous Occasion. . .
Leon: I’m waiting for presents. In a way it is my birthday today. What, nobody? Nothing?

  1. When I adopted Isa, her shelter record included her actual birth date, making her the first cat who has ever owned me for whom I have known exactly how old she is. Her adoption anniversary is 11 February and her birthday is coming up: 21 August (she will be eleven).

  2. I suspect my giant dog was born in January and abandoned at around 8 months when she began to grow really giant. I adopted in in September & I usually get her a toy for her adoption day. She has two toy boxes with of toys now!

  3. Since Baihu was born to a feral mother and several months old when he invited himself into my life, I’ve no clue when he was actually born, either. But I do know that the last night he slept on the street was November 7, 2008….

  4. I’m not sure how old my black cat, Miles, is, but the first time I saw him was on Christmas day on 2013, when I came home after spending some time with my mother. He ran off as soon as I approached but a few weeks later, after I’d been putting food out for him regularly, he finally got friendly and now he’s my very loving companion! Since that first day, tho’, two other cats I had at the time have died, and my mother died on February 28, 2014.
