And before some wiseass says, “It’s always snowing somewhere in the world” (the same wiseass who, wanting a drink before 5 p.m., says, “It’s 5 p.m. somewhere in the world), I mean here, in Chicago. Here are the flurries on my way to work, with the Robie House again pictured for lagnaippe. (The snowflakes make eerie patterns, which one might well mistake for spirits—if one were a complete bloody fool):
It’s snowing again!

I’m guessing today would be an especially bad day for a student to yell out their issues with humans an macro-evolution…
Got about an inch of the white stuff here in northern Michigan. Excellent. A nice dusting for the ski hills around here which are still open. Time to suit up for some gravity-assist sliding.
As long as it doesn’t stick to the roads! 🙂
Five pm? Hemingway’s comment was, “It’s 11:00 somewhere.”
“You have to get up pretty early in the morning to be drunk by noon.”
-Lucille Bluth
Ah, one of the best TV series!
“The snowflakes make eerie patterns, which one might well mistake for spirits—if one were a complete bloody fool”
Indeed, only a fool would mistake those patterns for spirits. Those are obviously aliens beaming down from space!
Here in Lincoln, UK, 11° N of Chicago it’s dry and sunny with little fluffy clouds.
Gotta love that Gulf Stream!

Similarly, the tree under my office window is blossoming.
It never ceases to surprise me that I used to live in a city that is north of Moscow, in a flat without central heating, and it was fine.
All Hail The Gulf Stream!
Should kind of make you wonder….what are you doing in Chicago.
Lincoln, UK?? Probably not on the A-11
You’re making up for all the snow you missed out on earlier in the year.
It is cloudy and damp here. It makes me sleepier.
Sunny, bright, 70 degrees, birds and flowers everywhere. As of a few weeks ago, even YOUR birds (like Blackburnian Warblers) were still here in montane Ecuador, reluctant to head up north.
Here in the thumb of Michigan, it’s snowing like mad right this minute. And I curse it.
I’m so bloody jealous that Prof Coyne gets to walk by that house every day.
Yuck! Snowed here (Toronto) yesterday for about an hour. Not impressed😝
Flurries here today. I spent most of the day complaining about the weather.
Just drove from Midway to Northern Indiana – sunny at Midway, snowstorm near Valpo, sunny in Elkhart County – and dang cold!!
I am sick of this damn winter. We are looking at 1-3 inches tonight with locally higher amounts possible.
