I’m broadening the wildlife category to include landscapes, travel and people photos, and so on. I wouldn’t want to leave out good readers’ pictures that don’t include animals or plants.
Today we have a diverse array from reader Ken Phelps; his notes are indented:
Since you seem to be suffering the aggravations associated with wintery weather, here’s a memory of spring. Fading spring, I suppose, since the tulip is starting to shed its petals.
Some Spring and some Fall from around Nanaimo Lakes [British Columbia]:
A summer sunrise in Ladysmith harbor.
Sculpture on the waterfront in Reykjavik. Late April, freezing cold wind:
A couple different people in Havana. Sitting on the sea wall:
Sitting in a market:
A dead moth floating in a tidal pool near Port Renfrew on the west coast of Vancouver Island:
Juan de Fuca trail in same area. Taken with 24mm tilt lens, hence the odd focal plane going horizontally down the trail and deep into the photo.
And Chicago at night, April 2011:

Lovely winter interlude among these wonderful photos. Great idea, PCC.
… please excuse my manners too. Thanks, Ken!
some are just stunning.
Speaking of Chicago and travel and photography, I’d like to share this tip about a fascinating film called FINDING VIVIAN MAIER. She was an unknown amateur street photographer, eking out a living as a nanny in Chicago. Her photos are haunting, revealing and deeply personal in some cases.

Here’s a good video about her:

We, just by chance, borrowed this from our library a couple of nights ago. Fascinating movie and great photos! Strange woman.
It was quite disturbing what a couple of the charges described, but I don’t want to give the story away.
Yes! I stumbled across a reference to her a while back and found that site. Very interesting stuff.
Great set of photos. I especially love the photos of the two stylish gentlemen and the coppery photo of the city at night.
Love the third one from the top. Nice work!
Yes! My favourite too.
Beautiful!
Ken, these are exceptionally beautiful. Great composition. Thanks!
Great shots Ken. I think we all appreciate the variety, especially when they are of this quality.
My favorite is the Juan de Fuca trail. Reminds me of Grimm fairy tales…esp. Hansel and Gretel.
That was exactly what I thought. There are lots of places along the trail where the atmosphere is almost spooky.
Beautiful photos, especially those from the Island. I’m hoping to get back there myself later this month.
Great addition to the site, and fabulous pics!
Beautiful!
