Over at Colossal, they’ve put up gifs from a music video of Roy Kafri’s song “Mayokero” (don’t ask me who he is). The video contains a bunch of famous albums that they’ve animated, but the best one is Carole King’s “Tapestry” which—and I hope you know this—has a tabby cat. You should also know that “Tapestry” is among the biggest-selling albums of all time: Wikipedia claims that it’s sold over 25 million copies worldwide, and it’s a fantastic album.
Here’s the animated gif:
And the music video from Vimeo (note, music not to my taste):

That’s a cool video, but man that song stinks.
I like the song. 🙂
Clever video. Can’t say I fell in love with the music, though.
People know Carol King as a singer, but maybe fewer know that she is a legendary songwriter who wrote many hits recorded by others. I’ve met her on a couple of occasions — she has a ranch in Idaho not far from here. She’s a lovely person with progressive views and is generous donating her time to good causes.
I want to meet her! I hope that readers know by now that she was first famous as a songwriter, as I’ve mentioned that on this site many times. I’m a big admirer of both her songs and her recordings.
Carole was also apparently a math whiz in high school. I’m part way thru the book Girls Like Us about Carole, Carly, and Joni.
“Ditto.” Good video. Nice idea with the music, but fell rather flat.

At the time it was released, “Tapestry” quickly became the best selling album of all time. It’s since been superseded by others, but it’s still a great listen. Yes, King/Goffen were extremely successful commercial songwriters, but there’s no question (in my own mind of course) that Joni Mitchell was the greatest songwriter of that era. Which leads me to plug an excellent article and review about Mitchell in today’s Guardian that’s a must read for everybody but Jerry: http://tinyurl.com/kks63zr
Roy Kafri is an Israeli Actor/comedian/film maker/a guy that does awesome youtube videos. Not so sure there’s an actual name for what he does, but he’s very good at it.
One of the first things he did was a youtube series in which he combines a few cat videos and dub them to create a telenovela-like story. It sounds silly but… well no, it really is very silly. But it’s also really funny.
You bad, BAD Coyne! I just had the worse argument I’ve ever had with my partner of 13 years over free will.
I’m pretty sure it’s your fault, or Sam Harris’, or both of you. Perhaps a little bit my fault for trying to explain it in mathematical terms.
How do I explain it in everyday language?
Jerry does not care for criticism of his actions.
Read Da Roolz! upper left corner of this page.
If you disbelieve in free will why are you pinning fault on Jerry, your partner, Sam Harris or yourself? If there’s no free will there’s no such thing as “fault.” A wise student of free will theory should know enough not to argue with anybody about anything.
Doesn’t pinkagendist have his tongue firmly in his cheek??? Hardly seems critical of Prof CC at all.
That was meant to be funny 🙂
The vinyl album montage video is pretty good minus the music. I can identify most of the album covers with the exception of the following.
What album appears with “True Blue” from Madonna at 0:32? What four albums appear at 0:39?
The one with Madonna is Jeff Buckley’s “Grace” (son of the – IMHO more amazing – Tim Buckley).
Prog loons Camel at 35-ish. Pink Floyd’s WYWH in there somewhere.
No Rush though, so on balance, a FAIL.
(seriously though – good video, shame about the music.)
“I feel the earth move under my feet, I feel the sky tumbling down…”, this song is definitely a strong candidate for top 1 female love song. I love it, I love it all the time.
Nice Video, Shame About The Song
And I am one of the 25 million – listening to Tapestry in the car yesterday. Love the cat gif.
