As Chicago is on the quarter system, we start school late (around the beginning of October), but the first year students show up for orientation this weekend. It’s time, then, to don the Official Atheist Footwear™, the better angels of our feet. I got this lovely pair of Lucchese Classics for a song on eBay, and all but the n00bs will be able to guess the hide:

I have heard of atheists flaying babies alive, but skinning an angel? That’s going too far!!! 🙂
(Sweet pair of booties)
I will add, though I shouldn’t have to, that these elephants are legally culled and their skins imported and used in the U.S. under strict federal regulations (I asked Lucchese).
Oh, that needed a spoiler alert. I hadn’t figured out yet that the “better angels” were elephants.
Elephant! Who knew it would look light brown like that? Do they bleach the hide, or is that the natural color?
For almost all skins, as far as I know, they are bleached or have the color removed, and then they’re dyed. There are a few exception, such as natural alligator, but that’s hideously expensive (and I covet such a pair).
I’m so jealous. I’m sure even the tune you paid is outside my range.
Is that McCain? Maybe Boehner? Santorum? One of the Cheneys, or somebody from the Bush klan?
