School’s over today: graduation is this morning and then the campus empties out for the summer. Meanwhile, in Dobrzyn, the feline princess of Poland must protect her delicate coat:
Hili: Let’s go into the shade.
A: Why?
Hili: Although somebody might find it cool in my shadow, this sun is too hot for me.
In Polish:
Hili: Idziemy w cień.
Ja: Dlaczego?
Hili: Bo w moim cieniu może komuś jest chłodno, ale mnie to słońce za bardzo grzeje.
Baihu can relate. We haven’t gone hiking in at least a few weeks because the daytime highs have been 105 – 110 °F (40 – 43 °C) and the overnight lows hovering on either side of 80 °F (27 °C). It’s not yet nine o’clock and the temperature’s already over 90 °F (32 °C)!
I think I have an idea of how to keep an ice pack at the top of the pack. It’s supposed to cool off a bit mid-week (though the highs will still be over 100 °F / 38 °C), so I might give it a try. I hope it works, because otherwise he’s going to be cooped up for another few months….

I used to have a cat which would just go sit in my shadow if it was too hot in the sun. Not very caring of her.
