A tiny hamster eats tiny burritos

May 1, 2014 • 4:41 am

No matter how insane an idea is, you can find it somewhere on the internet, often on YouTube. Here’s one: somebody wondered what would happen if they made a VERY SMALL burrito and fed it to a hamster.

This video is the result. It was put up two days ago, and already has 1.3 million views. Such is the power of the hamster, and the appetite of the public for bizarre stuff, which will only increase as posters push the limits.

Srsly, though, this is pretty damn cute. I just wonder what kind of a mind could think of something like this.

    1. Hamsters, in my experience, will tackle a meal of any size.

A few years ago, a friend’s daughter’s hamster made a good fist of eating my jeans.

I wouldn’t have minded so much, but I was wearing them at the time. Oh, and I’m 6’1″. 🙂

  1. How dare you post such awesome content on a serious science website? Also, I really think a hamster-sized hot sauce should have been provided.

  2. I like how the hamster packed away the burritos. Maybe as take away for the hamster family.

    1. =D. Syrian hamsters nearly always do their packing thing, so I took the kook’s pleased stance in the end as a somewhat ironic commentary.

As for family, Syrian hamsters are solitary. Nearly year round thinking only of themselves…

    1. I reckon. Not all its toes are in contact with the ground, and looks like it’s holding the paper between its third and fourth digits…

  3. What’re those things on poles? Festive lights?? And yeah, where’s the salsa and guacamole????

I put that through the text-to-speech program, and … it sounded very metallic and clanging. In fact, it sounded like a gauntlet hitting the ground.
Really insane ideas … I’ll give it some thought. But I keep on getting disturbed by spotting previously un-noticed owls hiding in the living room. There were a couple hiding behind the avocado tree, taking the count up to 17, IIRC. For the living room. Only.

Well… I used to make tiny tofu tacos for my rat. But my execution and presentation was not nearly as involved as that chef’s.

It’s just silly fun to make tiny food for tiny creatures, I guess. Though with a hamster, it’s much fun to watch him cram whole burritos in his cheek pouches.
