Why Evolution is True is a blog written by Jerry Coyne, centered on evolution and biology but also dealing with diverse topics like politics, culture, and cats.
No, I’m sure he played guitar. Who played the Horn? I don’t even know what sort of instrument a Rabin is. Is it from Asia? 🙂
Yes, Howe did he play it? I leave all Horn-related questions to Ben.
I think Rabin must be some kind of stringed instrument played in shul.

I loved the Buggles.
Well, really own Radio killed the you know what.
I have it in my playlist called Nostalgia which I play while combining beer and gardening.
I had to look that one up. Looks like The Buggles have come a long way since 1979. Or Yes… Jeesh. I’m so out of it.
Who? 🙂
No, what!
What’s the name of the guy on first base.
No, who’s on first.
That’s what I’m askin’.
If that isn’t the funniest sketch in history, I’m a monkey’s uncle.
Wait, I am.
As Tim Minchim says, we’re all just monkeys in shoes.
Well, I don’t know 🙂
But I’m not wearing any shoes at the moment …
🙊

I can’t workout which part you are quoting.
If it was Costello then I think Abbot replies ‘Naturally’ but if it was Abbot then there would no question mark as he would be making a statement.
Very deep. 🙂
Duh:-)

Off-topic but I can’t find the address to e-mail this link to Prof. Coyne. I _think_ this was the site that recently had a post about harvestmen, but I can’t find it. In any case, here’s an article indicating ancient harvestmen had two pairs of eyes, instead of one:
Yes, this was cool. And a detail in the article is that modern harvestmen appear to develop a vestige of the extra pair of eyes, but then they lose them.
You can find it at the Research Interests link, top right.

Thanks!
My favorite version of this bit is by Slovin and Allen.
It’s pretty much the original bit verbatim except they sub in actual players’ names but still react with confusion and it’s fairly surreal.
One of the few funny things A & C did.
I believe the first time this happened was in 2006.

Darn – tried to not embed the video, as specified in Da Roolz – and screwed up. Second try – LinkText
It took me a few seconds but I did laugh. Well played, sir.
The Credibility Gap’s version – from “A Great Gift Idea” (1974), where the idea involved promotion of three popular rock acts of the day.
I saw that some time back, but with different words:
Go ahead, say it. You know you want to.
And also those of us who aren’t old enough but grew up with a dad who’s obsessed with Abbot & Costello!
I think this skit is probably timeless. 🙂
Mr. Deity made fun of this once. I think it was the Identity Crisis episode.
In the protein folding field, Prof Alan Fersht is a major name. Another player in that area is Hue Sun Chan. Having only name recognition with either, I always thought it would be great if HSC married AF – she could be Hue Sun Fersht! (Until I found out that HSC is a guy, that is).
Ah, but what state(s) do they live in?

I suspect this stchick would translate pretty well into other languages, especially in other countries love baseball.
Now to find a player named something like quien.
Hey, Carlos Guillen’s close…! Oops, he retired. Ozzie Guillen…nope. Gotta be a Guillen still playing somewhere…
But the accent’s wrong…
Australia had two political jokes called Abbott and Costello. Peter Costello has thankfully retired, but Tony Abbott now rules the country…and that’s no joke!
I LOVE this photo and have been distributing it for a while now. It’s perfect, IMO, but some people roll their eys at it. Seriously? It’s hilarious!
This made me smile. Uh, and I never smile, so there’s that.
That is so synchronous! I just saw the film One Night in the Tropics that the routine (first?) appeared in! 🙂
What is the name of the man on second base?
I don’t know.
Third base.
Yes
No, that was the band Howe was in.
I thought that was the Buggles?
That was Horn (and Rabin).
