I get that look when I’m working instead of scratching ears.
It’s very much a “Please won’t you be my neighbor?” kind of a look. I’m actually pretty powerless when confronted with it…moments later I’m bumping foreheads and rubbing ears and before you know it a full-blown bellyrub session has broken out….

I am getting that look now from both of my cats. The wife is away and she usually feeds them. I think they think I snuffed her out and they are not liking it.
