. . . Jerry Coyne the cat, I mean. Reader Gayle Ferguson, who rescued Jerry and his Four Sisters, reports from Auckland:
Little Jerry is back from the vet and is doing well. He is racing around as usual as if nothing ever happened!
It looks as if I’ll leave no genetic legacy, either human or felid. But neutering is the way to go, especially in New Zealand.
On March 29, a week from tomorrow, Jerry flies with Gayle to Christchurch to be installed in his forever home. The new owner promises to send photos as Jerry grows.

I’m impressed that you have the cojones to write that headline, even knowing what it really means.
I can’t imagine anyone taking that out of context, I mean when do they ever take one line from a whole book and contrive it into something it’s not: it’s just not done by decent people…
And then there’s Michael Egnor. He’s been stalking Professor Ceiling Cat for quite awhile, and I just know he’s already incorporating this headline into yet another of his clueless rants.
The title of this post made me laugh.
We adopted a cat–Sam–when my daughter was in kindergarten. My daughter noticed Sam’s fur-covered testicles and asked why he had “puff balls” back there. We explained as best we could, and later had Sam neutered. The week of Sam’s “procedure”, my daughter proudly announced to her kindergarten teacher that her parents had removed Sam’s puff balls. Glad to see felid Jerry is doing well.
A comment from a female vet tech when I brought in Horace, a nine month old stray kitten I had just rescued:
“We’ll fix that BOY problem!”

“He is racing around as usual as if nothing ever happened!”
Maybe it was a sham neutering? Does the placebo effect work on all animals?
Elsewhere, creationists rejoice. Mistakenly, as usual.
“It looks as if I’ll leave no genetic legacy”
That’s hilarious from a major Drosophila researcher.
Don’t despair Professor Ceiling Cat, Noah didn’t have his sons until he was hundreds of years old…
Jerry Coyne has left the Library. Jerry Coyne has been saved…
You’re just tempting the creationinsts aren’t you?
