Who doesn’t love kittens when they’re in the “jumping around sideways” stage? This little guy appears to be a Scottish Fold, but also looks like a British shorthair.
Two scary apples

Jerry,
Since you don’t make your email address convenient to find…
“Writer and Philosopher” Ed Feser has responded to your studying theology post:

Thanks for spoiling a perfectly good kitten video.
Oh, come on. You don’t have to read that Catholic post! Just watch the kitten!
The kitten was great.
It’s like picking at a scab, I just couldn’t stop myself from following the link.
I’ll know better next time.
Or, you could watch the kitten for giggles, and read the priest for laughs.
There you have it, Jerry. The ultimate in sophisticated theology? Aquinas and the cosmological argument! Hilarious!
Cheers,

Nice soundtrack. It fits well with every little move in the cat’s war dance.
If I’m not mistaken, that is part of a piece that was the soundtrack for the movie “Alien”.
It’s really weird how perfectly the music fits the action. I only noticed one camera cut.
I think the sound was edited. The same youtube user has a (rather boring) video where he shows how he does it.
I can only come to one conclusion…kittens is so stupid (said in the voice of Cletus the slack jawed yokel).
That was so cute! The music was great too. I love when you post these cat videos I always end up putting them on my facebook.
Being a bit biased and since the video is from Russia, it does look a little bit like a Russian blue too. Though I’m not that good at picking breeds.
I’m wondering if it’s cross breed. I looked up Scottish Fold and noticed the ears, hence the name but this kitten’s face is not as round and sort of ‘squashed’ looking as the ones I found. So maybe a Russian blue crossed with Scottish fold? It’s colouring and hair looks a lot like a Russian blue and the face a little. There are grey Scottish folds but not that colouring. Maybe I’m being too pedantic.
Merlyn, our BSH 10 month old, still has a very Russian Blue looking face. They don’t fully develop those amazing jowley faces (like Happy Cat) until they are about 3 years old.
Catnip is a hellova drug…
We can has froot. But we no can has froot frum teh tree in teh middl of teh bed. Ceiling Cat sez, ‘If u tuch it or nom it, ull die. So pawz off.’
I said, Can I has CHEESEBURGER! No Apple!
I have a theory that kittens at a certain age are halucinating. I really think they are seeing things that are not there, perhaps to facilitate practicing hunting and pouncing? Has anyone tried to verify anything like this?
Brill! 🙂
Well Mr Kitty, bet you wouldn’t be so brave with THREE apples!
“This little guy appears to be a Scottish Fold, but also looks like a British shorthair.”
The Scottish Fold breed mostly came out of British Shorthairs. Originally just the ear mutation, if they have normal ears, they still look very much like BSHs. Of course, they now breed for the ears and their own standard, so they don’t otherwise maintain the BSH standard. Or so I have been told by two different SF breeders.
Damned adorable. Crazy kitteh.
I love the ‘I’m lookin’ at you sideways’ thing that cats do – even adult cats who are playing – before they pounce. Sometimes it the ‘I’m lookin’ at you sideways AND backwards, just to give you a sporting chance’ thing.
It’s as if they are playing out the Taxi Driver “You lookin at me??” scene in their furry little heads.
Lucy my Queen is 5yo now and she still does this sideways jumping thing on occasion, especially when bedsheets are being changed. She’ll also “stalk” random objects placed where she doesn’t expect them, such as a hairbrush on a bed, a remote control on a counter, that sort of thing. She’s weird. I worship her anyway.
