There’s no prize here (I don’t know the answer), but I do believe this is the first X-ray I’ve seen of a pregnant cat. Anyway, if anybody knows for sure put the answer below.

Looks like a H.R. Giger drawing. I half expect one of those things to erupt out of the mom’s tummie and hiss.
Oh yeah, my guess. I’m going with 6. That’s low for cats, I know, but I’d be lying if I said I saw more than that.
Dang, I can barely make out 3½.
Good thing I’m not a radiologist
Now the irradiated kittens will glow in the dark as well as see in the dark…
Yeah, isn’t X-raying a dangerous thing for developing fetuses? I always thought we should use ultrasound for such purposes.
Not particularly and those look like late stage fetuses 45+days, so its no more dangerous to the fetus than the mother
3-5 is the common range of litter size, like others I can make out six skulls which is a bit more than usual but not that uncommon
I see six.
I count 6 but I’m no expert. Also I echo above concerns about x-raying developing pre-nates.
Looks like 6 but the poor cat looks like she would say put me down already enough.
Yeah I think 6 as well.
About first pic: Doesn’t that make the kittens seasick the way they are are holding mum up like that? If pregnant cats were meant to walk on their hind legs…
Six seems to be the popular number but I’m not seeing it. Here’s what I see, clockwise from the top:
1. Head at 1:00, spine running left to 10:00.
2. Head at 2:00, spine running down past 4:00.
3. Head at 5:00, spine pointing up, antiparallel to #2.
4. Head at 7:00, spine curving up toward the middle.
5. Head somewhere in the middle, spine at 9:00.
If there’s a sixth skull and spine in there, I can’t find them.
I think there are two heads one in front of the other at about 7:00
If you look carefully you can see the remains of a mouse in there.
At 12 o’clock.
42.
Wait — what was the question?
b&
42 is correct. You win 1st prize.
Now, where did we leave the Golden Towel and the Tea of Randomness?
Why?
Because 42 is the right answer to everything we can imagine.
And yet Jerry’s still not sure if memes exist.
I think they’re next to the Tea Towel and the Golden Randomness….
b&
Confirmed, we have normality!
Ah shit — overshit it again.
I was hoping for some penguins this time, at the very least. Must try hotter tea next time.
b&
You lost track of your towel, Ben!
I did? No, can’t be, it’s right here…
…oh.
Damn.
Again?

My RVT spouse sees 6.
Whoo hoo! A professional opinion confirms how right we all are! My brain now rewards me chemically…..ahhhhhh!
Still waiting for somebody to point out the sixth kitten.
This makes me feel like Captain Picard being questioned by the Cardassians. There. Are. Six. Cats! 😀
The average litter size is between 3 and 5 kittens. I can only see 5.
7: 5 spines and 2 odd skulls.
Poor bulgy kitteh.
I gave up counting kittens after three.
However, I do see at least 14 boli (or boluses) that are either former meals or future hairballs.
I changed my mind and I think 5 now. What I thought was a spine was intestines :-p
I color-coded my kittens (I mouse with the left hand and I’m very right handed so forgive the “art”)

That’s pretty much how I see it, except that I think you have the yellow one reversed. Yellow skull is at the bottom, behind orange kitten’s ribs.
That is one cute momma cat. Great colors and wild splotches.

I’m fed up with seeing pictures of cats and kittens on the social media. However, this one is certainly different 🙂
