Were there only two options for Sex Jerry, multiple options, or a continuum?
Worked for me… within a week or two I was driving again, wearing my ‘old’ glasses but with one lens removed. I don’t know what your legal requirements are over there.

I went to the eye doctor and the results were good. I am actually able to drive (legally) without glasses. I do have thin glasses for looking at a phone. The cost was high. $35K per eye. My bill was zero.
I had both lens replaced in the one procedure. The results have been interesting and good. I still use my old trifocal glasses for close up work and reading. I also do a lot of night driving and was becoming concerned about the increasing dimness of my car’s headlights: so would furiously polish them but to no good effect. After the operation night became day; it wasn’t the car at fault. It was my cloudy lenses!

It’s a breeze. I had cataract surgery two years ago. No regrets. Cloudy vision no more. Best wishes Dr Jerry.
I hope you are home and recovering by now. I had both eyes done 30 years ago – the best thing I ever had done for my eyes. I was in my late 40s and extremely near-sighted. Ever since I’ve been 20/40 in both eyes, can drive without glasses if need be. No more triple vision, etc. Recovery these days is much faster; friends were driving two days later.
The most successful surgeries I have ever had were the cataract replacement lenses and the titanium hip replacements.
Easy recovery with the cataracts, less easy recovery with the hips. I know you will do well. Enjoy your day of post-op rest.
I’ll add my voice to those who reassure you from our own experience. I had my operation in Ecuador. I was disappointed the first day, seeing haloes, but these quickly disappeared, and within a week or so my distance vision was perfect (though the eye can’t focus close anymore).
I have been forced to use magnify glasses in a few (very few) cases. I keep a few around just in case.

Quite a few veterans of cataract removal surgery here — and we all concur, it works. I felt like I must have had teabags covering my eyes before. Now, clouds are really WHITE, and the sky is really BLUE. Wishing you a smooth recovery and adjustment!

But I would also like to offer WEIT readers a note that the Free Press has published an article about shareholders suing the New York Times for anti-Israel bias.
One paragraph from the Free Press: “The suit includes the testimony from a whistleblower, a former Times employee who is Jewish and spent nearly a decade on the paper’s video desk. According to the suit, the whistleblower raised concerns about antisemitism and anti-Israel bias on her desk at least 15 separate times between 2019 and her March 2026 departure, using every channel the company makes available to employees, including her managers, the standards desk, and human resources.”
