Yes, “going against nature” means supernatural. What they really mean when they use that phrase is “going against the intentions of nature” – which is just a roundabout way of saying “going against God.”
Here’s an old joke:
— So do you believe in full-immersion baptism?
— “Believe”? Oh, I’ve seen it done, in person!
And of course there’s the issue of the bar-maid’s shifting use of the word “believe in”, i.e. in the first cases meaning “assume the existence of”, in the last frame “approve of morally”.
