A special quiz Hili today, because, meanwhile in Dobrzyn… we don’t know. The internet tubes between here and Poland are evidently bunged up at the moment.
Hili’s photo should arrive shortly, followed at some point by the dialogue.
Your task, should you choose to accept it, is
a) Before the photo is posted, to describe, in the comments, the photo of Hili.
b) After the photo is posted, guess what the Dialogue will be, and put your best shot in the comments…
JERRY: Here is the photo. As Mattew noted, you make up the dialogue and put it in the comments. The real dialogue will be posted at 10 a.m. Chicago time.
Remember, the dialogue is between Andrzej (right) and Hili, and can be anywhere from two to four lines.

Hili: Words fail me.
Andrzej: Writer’s block is painful but it usually passes on its own.
Hili: Why are you looking at a book on your lap instead of reading the news on the screen along with me? The Epstein story is riveting.
Andrzej: I’m afraid I don’t agree.
Hili: There is something wrong with your priorities.
Hilli: I’m starting to look old…
Andrzej: You are, after all, growing into a mature cat.
Hili: We should head for the kitchen now.
Andrzej: It’s too early for lunch
Hili: It sounds like Kulka is getting into the cupboards, We should check and make sure things are alright.
Andrzej: You look as if you found the answer.
Hili: Present is the past of the future.
Andrzej: What was the question again?
Hili: What does that say?
Andrzej: I don’t know. It’s in a strange language.
Hili: So we are going to remain ignorant?
Andrzej: Unfortunately, yes, in this case.
Andrzej: It should be “they’re”, not “their”.
Hili: You need to feed me now.
Andrezej: A columnist at the NYT says the Epstein files won’t hurt Trump.
Hili: The files are yesterday’s news. I want to know if Kristin’s job at Astromomer is in the shitter too.
H: I am looking for information on today’s anniversary of the first manned landing on the moon.
A: yes it has been 56 years now, about the same time between the Wright Brothers’ first flight and creation of NASA.
H: Nobody seems to care about these things anymore
I do!
A while back I had the thought that, if I had to pick, I’d say that the Hubble telescope is the single greatest achievement of humankind. So, you can just bet I care about NASA, and space exploration in general.
And I’m also extremely grateful for the contributions of the people who have worked at NASA, such as you.
Me, too. I thought at the time that landing on the moon was humanity’s greatest achievement. It may still be.
This drifts from the Hili dialogue focus, but thought this would be a nice place to emphasize that NASA has two main types of missions: 1. engineering and 2. science. Pure engineering includes things like designing, fabricating, and operating vehicles for getting humans into orbit, landing on the moon, and maintaining human orbital presence such as the ISS; science missions are about simply adding to the store of human knowledge (basic research) such as information on earth’s atmosphere, planetary atmospheres, the sun, other planets via probes and landers, interstellar space, etc. Of course almost all the science missions require crossover with the engineering of unique instruments, space vehicles, and launches.
It is the science missions, the pure basic scientific knowledge, that this administration is destroying support for…..damn luddites!
Andrezej: I dreamt about America last night.
Hili: Was it Epstein?
Andrezej: I’m trying to think.
Hili: But nothing’s happening.
Hili: I’m not looking.
Andrezej: I am.
