We continue with Ephraim Heller’s safari journey through Tanzania. Ephraim’s notes and IDs are indented, and you can enlarge his photos by clicking on them:

Brief introduction: These photos were taken on safari in Tanzania in April 2025. Most are from the Serengeti National Park with a few from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Today’s photos focus on cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus).

  1. Your photos are always so phenomenal. Very exciting to see.
    It’s a real capture of a moment.
    Thank you for sharing these.

  2. It’s interesting that in (almost) each of these photos, the cheetah stands out like a sore thumb against a backdrop/environment that appears nothing like the color or pattern of its coat. And yet, natural selection suggests the coat would/should serve as camouflage. Can anyone shed some light on this (Jerry?)?

  3. Looking at these photos, I feel like I’m really there. I can almost smell the air. Very cool. The “cheetah accelerating” with the tiny lavender colored flowers showing against her coat…nice.
