Meanwhile, in Dobrzyn, Hili is being logical:
Hili: You have to leave the rest of the nuts to the squirrels.
A: Why?
Hili: All the containers are already full.
Hili: Musicie zostawić resztę orzechów wiewiórkom.
Ja: Czemu?
Hili: Już wszystkie pojemniki są wypełnione.

Need a tea or coffee to understand this one… I can tell it’s intriguing though…
Except tea or coffee you probably need an additional picture which is visible on the Hili’s original site (a smaller one on the right side):

Thanks – can’t quite navigate to the precise photo – but :
In Hili I Trust

My cats would helpfully paw the nuts out of the bowl to bat around the house. Minutes of amusement for them, for staff, notsomuch. Clearly, yours are more disciplined.
None of our cats was ever interested in either wal- or hazelnuts. We didn’t have to teach them.
Acorns, or hazel nuts?
And by the way, do any chestnut trees grow near you?
Those are hazelnuts. We have also a few walnuts trees but walnuts are not ripe yet. No chestnuts close by.
A logical conclusion to be kind? Not bad for a cat, indifference is usually the best you could hope for.
My cat used to bring acorns home. I wondered why until one night I chanced to see her pounce on an acorn as it dropped from an oak tree.
Her mother used to take my socks and leave them on the road outside my house.
Cats.
