Lovely layering. The Redbud tree has an unusual and delightful way of producing flower buds even from the tough bark of the upper trunk and the limbs. Mine is in bud and will open soon. It’s magnificent in full Springtime regalia.
The best flowering trees in Hyde Park Chicago right now: the redbuds (but just past their prime- the pink/purple one in Jerry’s picture) and apple trees! The Cherry Blossoms fizzled this year, unfortunately.

Yes, it’s part of what was the old gymnasium, which is being renovated as another type of building.
