After nearly a year’s hiatus, we have a new video from Tara Tanaka, and it’s a lovey one: gorgeous shots of Sandhill Cranes (Antigone canadensis) accompanied by appropriate music. (Tara’s Vimeo page is here, and her Flickr page is here.)
The notes on Tara’s public Facebook post say this:
It’s been a year since I created a new wildlife video, but this one has been floating around in my head and my heart since 2014, and sharing these scenes and the emotion behind them was one of the top things on my bucket list. Be sure not to turn it off too early – there are two main parts to this video. I hope you enjoy it!
Be sure to enlarge the video and turn the sound on! The first thirty seconds is the intro.
Beautiful!
Glad to see Tanaka continuing the delightful productions here!
Some great video. This is the time of year to see them in the Sandhills of Nebraska.

Wonderful!
Graceful and magnificent birds. Thanks for sharing this!
Magnifique
Great color throughout. I enjoy seeing their skinny bodies floating and buffeting when they are landing. They approach stall speed and slip a bit, but it’s all under control.
That was just stunning. All manner of superlatives!
Oh my, agreed. I’m going to save and view again and again.
Masterful photography! Beautifully captured.
This video embodies grace, beauty, color, musical peace. It made my day. Thank you Ms. Tanaka for your inspiring work.
I wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to post such kind comments! I do this to share it with others, and it makes me really happy to know how much you enjoyed it. I am inspired that much more to make others I have in mind from those same unforgettable Bosque trips!
Thanks for creating and sharing this exquisite video, Tara. The music was very well selected and enhanced the evocative beauty of the cranes in flight.
My husband has taken some gorgeous bird photos here on Sanibel Island. He’s too shy to send them in (he’s only just started photographing, although we’ve been birding for years). But he says I can do so. How do I submit photos to you? And how do I add captions, if the photos are all attachments to one email? (Or should I do something different?)
Suzanna – look at the About JerryCoyne link at the bottom and you should be able to find his email.
Hallelujah, I got my final “e” back🙀
Wonderful! Thank you.
Fantastic – it must have taken you ages of waiting. They remind me of the special “Japan Airlines” cranes which fly between Hokkaido, Japan and Siberia. I’ve always wanted to see them in real life but both are too cold for me.
Wonderful video.

Beautiful and awe inspiring!
