It’s been a while since Steve Adams sent us photos (see his leopard photos here and fox kit photos here), but today we’re graced with birds. I’ve indented Steve’s IDs and comments.
I wanted to send you some photos from the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge that I took back in the springtime. My wife and I made a number of trips there during the Spring migration season. I hope I’ve identified every bird correctly, but would welcome correction.
Northern Shoveler (Spatula clypeata):
Common Gallinule (Gallinula galeata):
Pied-billed Grebe (Podilymbus podiceps):
Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos):
Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus):
Great Blue Herons (Ardea herodias):
Ospreys (Pandion haliaetus):
Very nice bird photos, thanks! 🙂
Thank you very much!
Nice set. The heron in flight is especially nice.
Thank you!
Lovely! Unfortunately my only contact with the Montezuma Refuge has been an occasional drive-by on the Thruway. I really need to get back there and spend some time.
Thanks! Montezuma is one of our favorite places to go. There is another wildlife refuge to the West between Rochester and Buffalo called Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge.
We had some great sightings there a few weeks ago.
I enjoyed these birds. And it looks like the Shoveler just finished shoveling. 😉
Thank you!
