Jesus ‘n’ Mo ‘n’ the empowering burqa

Today’s Jesus and Mo strip, called “alas,” came with this email note (and please donate!):

Man, it’s good to be back to burka jokes again.

Pity the artist didn’t have time to deal with the burkini model in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, but perhaps next week. At any rate, this is a good one:

  1. Trump’s bigotry (his statement about Charlottesville was indeed both shameful and cringeworthy)

Could someone provide an exact quote?

    1. I think this is a comment meant for a different post.

I think Jerry was referring to the “very fine people on both sides” comment…Trump not differentiating between the torch wielding white supremacists and those protesting them.

      1. However odious you find their beliefs, they were 100 tiki torch-wielding, peaceful protesters with a permit to demonstrate, set upon by thousands of baseball-bat and improvised flame-thrower-wielding marxist/anarchists prowling the streets and seeking violent confrontation. And aside from the mentally-challenged kid who started ramming people after his car was attacked, I know of no instances of the statue demonstrators initiating acts of violence.

So if we define ‘fine’ as ‘demonstrating peacefully’, 99% of the white supremacists fit the bill, as do many of the counter-protesters do, but none of the antifa thugs.

And while he may well be mistaken, trump clearly believed not all of the demonstrators were white supremacists:

… you had people – and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally – but you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists, okay?

So trump did, in fact, differentiate between ‘fine people’ and ‘troublemakers’ in both groups, and did condemn white supremacists.

As trump says enough odious things already, it doesn’t behoove us to misrepresent him on this. Nor is it appropriate to use that out-of-context quote to whitewash the violent, criminal antifa vigilantes who comprised the bulk of the counter-protesters in Charlottesville.

  2. Ah, I’d scanned the post titles before going to the most recent one. This would explain why I was chanelling Philip K.Dick.
Was Dick specifically thinking of burquas when writing “Scanner”? Not according to the Wiki page, but if the bondage gear fits, wear it!

    1. Rated according to how much skin is visible. Rating women by the yard.

      “Wow She’s a ’10’! (yards)”.
