Have a gander at this comment, made by one “Joe Cortina” and intended to go after my post “‘Nazi puncher’ gets $1 fine, no jail time.” put up three days ago. That post was about a white supremacist getting punched when he tried to speak, and the puncher getting a suspended jail sentence and only a $1 fine.

Joe’s rant is all one long paragraph, and hard to tell whether the guy loves Nazis more than he hates Jews. And the poor cretin can’t even get the original name of the Nazi Party right:

To you morons reading this jew approved attack on our Constitution – KNOW THIS! ‘NAZI’ is a CREATED word by the jews to demean the Christian German people. It is a verbal assault FAR MORE HURTFUL to decent people than calling a decent black man a ‘NIGGER” there is NO SUCH THING AS A ‘NAZI’. It is hate speech created by JEWS who IN FACT are responsible for WWII. For you idiots out there who have IQ s of retarded oysters – the CORRECT name for the German party that was established in 30’s Germany is NSDAP. The political party has not existed for almost 70 YEARS! STOP THE CRIMINAL IGNORANCE! It sands [sic] for Nationalist Socialiste Deutche Arbiten Parti. [JAC: It really stands for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei.] I risked my life MANY years ago as Special Forces paratroop commander to defend our freedoms. If you think this is a joke, I suppose there’s a small chance you could be right, but I’ve heard too many of these things to believe that it’s not meant seriously. Yes, there are Americans out there who are like this.

  13. Considering the general content of this site I have to ask Mr. Cortina how one can tell if an oyster is retarded. It must be difficult since they aren’t able to use caps lock in their comments.

    1. The thing with oysters is that they are crafty so they eschew caps lock and the emoji to avoid detection. You wait, when they are ready to overthrow humans there is going to be a lot of food poisoning.

The guy does have quite a bit of Christian rage against Jews (and seems to be cozy with some Muslim anti-semites, so I do I need a sophistimacated theologian to answer my question. Fortunately, subsequent comments in this thread address the points I made, which had to do with Googling the guy.

    Dunno how old his schtick is. But I saw him a few years ago and I can find the same behavior documented 2013, with a note that it has been the same for years:

        1. I’ve been thinking this was a bot too. Then when you wrote he’d been around for a while, I didn’t think he was. But with this added link, I again think it is a bot.

    2. His opinion of the US military makes me think two things:
      1. He was dishonourably discharged or (more likely) discharged due to a mental health problem he doesn’t believe he has.
      2. If the military is so bad, why would he boast about being in the Special Forces in an attempt to increase his credibility?

  20. Regardless of whether “Nazi” was coined with a derogatory allusion in mind, acronyms in German are usually composed of syllables. Examples familiar to English speakers are Stu-Ka, Fl-A-K, Ge-Sta-Po, Sta-Si, etc. (There were also Grepos and Shupos.) The large department store, KaDeWe, comes from Kaufhaus des Westens, another, Hertie, from Hermann Tietz. The wonderful Aldi, now expanding in the US, came from Albrecht Diskont.

    The expected form would’ve been ‘Na-So’, so perhaps German fondness for puns was involved.

    Contemporary references to the nazis in German employ “NS” (pronounced ‘enn ess’), as in “NS-Staat” (‘The Nazi state/regime.’)

    1. I should add that syllable-based acronyms are mostly colloquialisms; as can be seen by today’s SPD, CDU, and CSU, political parties tend to refer to themselves by the initials. ‘Enn Ess Day Ahh Pay’ is a mouthful, but a colloquial abbreviation would tend toward ‘Naso’.

      The play on Naz for Ignatz (cf. Sepp/Joseph; Hannes/Johannes), implying a ‘Rube’, is plausible.

      But of course, why anyone should be concerned about offending the members of the NSDAP defies explanation.
