Saturday: duck report

June 9, 2018 • 3:15 pm

I’m glad to report that all the ducks are still there—eleven, including 8 ducklings, Honey, and Hank and Frank. They’ve all been fed twice, and the family is reposing on Tree Island to get away from the crowds. Today’s photos:

The morning feeding at 7 a.m.: very quiet and rainy. (The rain let up about 9:30 a.m, and now it’s even a bit sunny.)

Postprandial bath after second feeding:

The ducklings are still cute, but soon they’ll be awkward teenagers. And their appetite for duckling pellets is insatiable!

Which one of these things is not like the others?  The duckling actually pecked at the turtle a couple of times.

  1. That’s so funny

I wonder if the builder of the ramp could add more ramps, and with traction – as in simply roughing it up a bit with the hacksaw.

  2. “Which one of these things is not like the others?”

Actually, I think only two of those things are the same. Though one is “more different” than the other four, of course.

Not sure what kind of turtle the top one is, the one immediately below could be a painted turtle, and the next two are red-eared sliders. (Turtle experts, correct me if I’m wrong.) Very cool that it appears that the turtles might also be reproducing in the pond.
