    1. … … a wee wilderness story, Mr George:

A kiddo of mine a couple of decades ago ‘d
had a bear – watching gig at the premier
salmon – jumping / grizzly deal of Brooks
Lodge, Katmai / Aleutians. That is, two men
were kept by their bosses hqed back inside
Anchorage … … down and over to the Lodge
after they ‘d worked the tourist season which
had ended in mid September. In order just
to specifically guard the Lodge, all of its
outpostings and other human – used portions
of the resort from … … the scavenging and so
      destructive to wooden structures’ bears.
I as mama to one of ‘em was, o’course,
concerned that if something untoward happened
to my child, wuuuull … … like the sudden
appendicitis which his Bro Jacob ‘d suffered
one wintertime (back here in the contiguous
states), how would Z get helped ?! In time.

Nothing bad happened to either man. The hq –
personnel ‘d had some type of radio – phone
technology to the Lodge from Anchorage; and
every Friday made contact with the two to
check in, “How many bears still awake and
coming around this past week ?” “O, we dealt
with seven.” Or whatever weekly decreasing
      ( thankfully ! ) number.

Only when the Friday’s contact – call yielded
to the hq folks the answer back of, “Only
.one. bear this past week !” did hq pilots
fly in and set down the float plane upon the
ice and bring Zachary and the other man out.
For the rest of the wintertime. The date
that year for … … ” one bear only ?”
      05 December … …

Needless to say, Mama was soooo, so relieved
to hear his voice coming at me … … from
      Anchorage.

      Blue

  1. The cat climbing the wall. I wonder if it’s textured. Is Hili shy for the first time? Must be fake news.
