Reader discovers true age of the Earth!

September 9, 2017 • 1:30 pm

Here’s a comment that reader “Jason Singleton” attempted to make on my post “Genesis 3D: Paradise Lost”—A new creationist movie.” Jason gets off to a bad start with an egregious error in each of the first two sentences.

The only thing I disagree with in this movie is Carbon Dating. Earth is not anywhere near 19 Billion Yrs Old. Only a few scientist and even a fewer amount of computer savvy people like myself have discovered the true age of Earth by researching World events based on Scientific and archaeological research free on the Internet. If you want to discover the truth, start searching for when God split the World (Earth into many nations). He did this by a massive meteor shower and if you use Google Earth filters just right and find grid locations from others that have discovered this, you will be provided an explanation for everything… dinosaur extinction, the ice age, Utopio being split into our continents. You also need to take into calculations the distance of our “growing” galaxy’s edge from Earth, how much it grows each year (light speed changes every year because of this and I will explain why our galaxy is still expanding), and then adjust that to how Scientist Carbon Date today… which is way off. Most scientist that use and came up with carbon dating doesn’t calculate a “growing” galaxy because they REFUSE to believe in Creation from a Creator and they think our Universerve is not growing and dead beyond Earth, it’s a FAT LIE!

The Big Bang Theory is partially TRUE! God created a Biological BOMB in empty space and detonated it. Now with any explosion, the energy slows down as it travels outward. Now imagine Our creation and everything we know as Earth and our Galaxy was a HUGE GIANT MEGA EXPLOSION, the Big Bang Theory, bio-bomb if you will. Now think of the energy as “Time”. Light speed is measured time. Even today, we use distance to measure time each day, the distance and other variables from the Earth to the Sun and Moon. So this measurement of Time is increasing as our Universe is expanding. It’s so minute that we don’t have to adjust our time that much to stay on a time schedule. Time during the Big Bang was very rapid and violent. For example, if we were to grow a Rain Forest, it would take Hundreds of Years to do. When God made the BioBomb, a Rain Forest could probably grow to full maturity in a matter of seconds during Creation. Bottom line scientist have Carbon Dating wrong… it’s ok though, it’s just a technical error from scientist that were never religious from the start of their careers. No fault, glad you found your faith. God Bless!

You will discover that Earth is only about 50,000 years old

A rain forest in a matter of seconds!! God bless!

    1. I didn’t know “The Wrath of Khan” was a documentary. Apparently Biblical Genesis refers to actual Genesis Torpedoes.

    1. And yet its very familiar. I’ve read many arguments that are so similar in general “feel” that I’d think they had same author, if I didn’t know that to be highly unlikely. Is this a manifestation of some common mental disturbance? Is this just what happens when an active mind is never taught to think logically?

      1. I suspect a degree of copy-paste from common sources, and being exposed to a common style. The breathlessness and “punch-punch-punch” reminds me of a number of parts of the BuyBull.

        1. Really? You’ve never heard of a Gish Gallop?

We all have odd little lacunae in our general knowledge and I guess this must be one of yours.

          cr

          1. Well, Gish and the like is a foreign comedian, not something of importance. I don’t think I’ve ever wasted time trying to listen to one of his rants, for example, but I envision him as going something like John Cooper Clark when he was trading the smack for speed. But making less sense then JCC (version somewhat excessive with the extraneous sounds – IMO, JCC should be served cold.).

      2. I think you have nailed the essence of it.
A good inquiring mind corrupted and limited by ignorance and superstition.

  1. Yeah, He can do all of that, but He can’t take out Satan and eliminate evil, oh, no, that wouldn’t be right!

I just blogged recently about radiocarbon dating, limited to events about 57,000 years in the past (good enough to blow Young Earth Creationist’s minds) but these folks seem to think carbon-14 is used to date the age of the Earth and the universe. (WTF?)

But then, they complain that Darwin’s theory didn’t explain biogenesis (isn’t covered by that theory) or the Big Bang (WTF?).

These young ones, I hope they are doing better in school than they are in church.

  2. Thanks for the laughs. Arbitrarily capitalized words is the surest sign of kookiness. The woo is strong in this one.

  3. I love this: “if you use Google Earth filters just right and find grid locations from others that have discovered this, you will be provided an explanation for everything.” No sense in actually providing information on the filters or locations, just take my word for it.

    1. I’ve seen this “delusion” (in the non-clinical sense elsewhere): someone who insisted that there are “tunnels everywhere” (including under the Atlantic) or something. Also resonates with the “face on Mars” folks.

  4. It’s a good thing all that science is laying around to think about. Back at the origins of religion, all they had was people telling stories over the campfire, or some mauraders attacking them out of nowhere.

  5. Incomprehensible gibberish. The grammar is appalling, the syntax awful, and the illogicality mind blowing. An immature, self perceived low achiever.

  6. Earth is not anywhere near 19 Billion Yrs Old.

I love the smell of facepalm in the morning!

Proponents of creationism are affected by the interaction of neural-energy and their intense bozon field, which results in the decay of two neurons and the creation of one moron. The moron has a half-life of 42 years.

    1. You need something to clean your tongue with. Deep Heat, or some caustic soda. Personally, I’d take the caustic, at up to 0.2N.

  7. I am not sure which is worse:
    – “Carbon dating” for geological ages – so scientists are inept!?
    – Big Bang cosmology describes an “explosion” (and I will gladly accept that “19” is a misspelling) – so science is wrong!?
    – Scientists are atheists – except they are not!?

The only way to treat that comment is to flush it down the drain it crept out of.

  8. When I was in graduate school (many decades ago) the library at Ohio State’s Perkins Observatory had a file of letters received at the observatory and not addressed at a specific staff member.
One of them described how the pattern of stars’ placement in the sky revealed a message from God. On reading that passage I thought “Ha” I’ve found a hole in that logic: the proper motion of stars that will eventually disrupt the message from God written in the heavens.
But no! The next paragraph recognized the existence of proper motion and rejoiced in the new message from God that will eventually be “posted”.
There is no rational argument against a true believer.

    1. Will the new message be “posted” before or after Jesus returns?
If after, what would the point be? If before, then the second coming is going to be a long, long way off. Eat, drink and be merry!
I think you still have your hole.

  9. When a mind is divorced from reality there are no constraints regarding where it might wander. This one has taken a rather amusing path. The causes for such a divorce? If only we knew. Is he happy in his mental wandering? I hope so.

  10. You can’t deny that he starts off well: “Earth is not anywhere near 19 Billion Yrs Old.” Even though Earth is, we must believe, three days older than the rest of the universe (Genesis 1 16 ff: “he made the stars also. … And the evening and the morning were the fourth day”).

  11. Since it’s a boring Sunday morning, I’m going to waste my time on this.

“The only thing I disagree with in this movie is Carbon Dating. Earth is not anywhere near 19 Billion Yrs Old.”
Non sequitur, but he is right. Earth is nowhere near 19 billion years old. It’s 4.6, if I remember correctly.

“Only a few scientist and even a fewer amount of computer savvy people like myself have discovered the true age of Earth by researching World events based on Scientific and archaeological research free on the Internet.”
He believes he is smarter than the rest of the world. Good on him I suppose?

“If you want to discover the truth, start searching for when God split the World (Earth into many nations). He did this by a massive meteor shower and if you use Google Earth filters just right and find grid locations from others that have discovered this, you will be provided an explanation for everything… dinosaur extinction, the ice age, Utopio being split into our continents.”
    Wat?

“You also need to take into calculations the distance of our “growing” galaxy’s edge from Earth, how much it grows each year (light speed changes every year because of this and I will explain why our galaxy is still expanding), and then adjust that to how Scientist Carbon Date today… which is way off.”
    1. The galaxy doesn’t expand, only non-gravitationally bound galaxy superclusters are subject to the effect of dark energy’s spatial expansion.
    2. Light speed doesn’t change either. That’s why we call it a constant. It changing by an observable amount would be disastrous, as the Sun produces energy by nuclear fusion. Energy release would be much greater or much weaker in the past as E=mc^2. Even a slight change in the speed of light would cause a great change in the energy released, roasting the Earth or not giving enough energy for life to exist in the first place. Also, relativity would be wrong. As gold is golden and mercury is liquid due to relativistic effects, a changing speed of light (contrary to a premise of the special theory of relativity) would mean mercury and gold wouldn’t be the way they are.

“Most scientist that use and came up with carbon dating doesn’t calculate a “growing” galaxy because they REFUSE to believe in Creation from a Creator and they think our Universerve is not growing and dead beyond Earth, it’s a FAT LIE!”
How is carbon dating even remotely related to galaxy size? Scientists do not believe in a growing galaxy because there is evidence against it, not because of calculations. Our universe is expanding. That is observable. Many scientists think that alien life is possible, and the field of astrobiology is dedicated to answering that question.

“The Big Bang Theory is partially TRUE! God created a Biological BOMB in empty space and detonated it.”
The Big Bang is not an explosion. And wat?

“Now with any explosion, the energy slows down as it travels outward.”
Energy is something you have or don’t have. How can it slow down? If it is referring to the fragments of the bomb, no, they don’t slow down in space. Newton’s first law.

“Now imagine Our creation and everything we know as Earth and our Galaxy was a HUGE GIANT MEGA EXPLOSION, the Big Bang Theory, bio-bomb if you will. Now think of the energy as “Time”.”
You are asking me to equate two quantities that are obviously different, which fails dimensional analysis. Sure, energy and time are related via the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, and time-symmetry implies energy conservation by Noether’s theorem, but the two are not equivalent.

“Light speed is measured time. Even today, we use distance to measure time each day, the distance and other variables from the Earth to the Sun and Moon. So this measurement of Time is increasing as our Universe is expanding. It’s so minute that we don’t have to adjust our time that much to stay on a time schedule. “You will discover that Earth is only about 50,000 years old”
I can’t even rebut this because I don’t even know what it’s trying to get across.

    1. The speed of light does change, depending on the medium, that is why we have refraction and hence spectacles. 🙂

      1. “The speed of light” is commonly understood to mean “the speed LIMIT of light,” the universal constant usually denoted as C.

Actual light can be made to travel at lower speeds, yes.

        1. And it gets quite unhappy when it breaks the speed limit.

          Hence Cerenkov radiation.

          cr

          1. In fact it are the particles travelling through a liquid that travel faster than the velocity of light *in the liquid*, which is slower than the velocity of light in vacuum. These particles create a bow shock wave, comparable to the sonic boom of a jet plane travelling at velocities higher than the velocity of sound. The light created by the shock wave travels at the velocity of light in the liquid, which is less than c in Einstein’s famous formula.

          2. Sorry, yes, my comment was misleading. I should’ve clarified my vague impression with a quick Google before I commented 🙂

            cr

          3. No, this is quite understandable. For example physicists at Cern were quite flummoxed when neutrinos sent to the Grand Sasso underground laboratory in Italy they found that neutrinos seemed to travel faster than the classical speed limit for light. The result was explained after a few days by the detection of a faulty connector in the electronics. However, whether c is constant over time or in different gravitational fields is still an open question. Deviations are hard to detect because any measurement of c depends on instrumentation using the velocity of light themselves. Perhaps entangled particles over a large distance, as achieved with a Chinese satellite experiment might help (entanglement between particles is instantaneous).

    2. To all responding: Yes, I know the speed of light varies in different mediums. I should have made it clear that the speed of light IN A VACUUM is a constant.

    1. Never understood why Dunning and Kruger got an IgNobel prize. Their observation is sound and well accepted.

  12. first sentence is true, noone thinks the earth is 19 billion years old. consensous puts it around 4.5 billion, so he got SOME facts right. and why the hell does this lead to the earth being around 50,000 years old? where are these numbers coming from? is this a joke?

    1. Maybe he read somewhere the (correct) notion that Carbon dating is only reliable up to about 40-50,000 years?
A bit like the invention of writing, that is about 6000 years old, hence the Earth must be about that age?

  13. ‘The only thing I disagree with in this movie is Carbon Dating. Earth is not anywhere near 19 Billion Yrs Old.”

Carbon dating? What has that got to do with the age of the Earth? At best Carbon 14 is good for dating to 40,000 years or so.

Even William Thompson (Kelvin) without knowledge of radioactivity estimated 300,000 years.

Creationists rely on an estimate of the Earth’s age by Bishop Ussher.

    1. There are very few “educated” creationists who even marginally understand the theories they deride. And those who do suffer from overwhelming cognitive dissonance to come support their “creation science”. Most creationists get a Chinese Whispers version of the science and think that Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection encompasses geology and astrophysics and construct a battalion of straw men to make their point. This is the essence of the Gish Gallop.

  14. Does ‘computer savvy’ mean, I know how to turn one on and use Google (a bit), or does it mean knowing what register indirect addressing is or what stack overflow really means.

Jefferson Starship has a good account of travelling around in time and the universe in the song ‘Hyperdrive’.

    1. Any science fiction fans out there who think that Isaac Asimov’s “The Mule” is personified in Donald Trump?

The Mule is a fictional character from Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series.[1] One of the greatest conquerors the galaxy has ever seen, he is a mentalic who has the ability to reach into the minds of others and “adjust” their emotions, individually or en masse, using this capability to conscript individuals to his cause. Not direct mind-control per se, it is a subtle influence of the subconscious; individuals under the Mule’s influence behave otherwise normally – logic, memories, and personality intact. This gives the Mule the capacity to disrupt Seldon’s plan by invalidating Seldon’s assumption that no single individual could have a measurable effect on galactic socio-historical trends on their own, due to the plan relying on the predictability of the actions of very large numbers of people.

“However, whether c is constant over time or in different gravitational fields is still an open question.”

Not really. Astrophysicists found long ago that stellar nuclear reactions of very distant stars are fully in accordance with our local star physics. We do not need to assume that physics is the same everywhere in the visible universe (and as a result at every time in the same); we can actually see the evidence that this is the case. We don’t need to actually measure c at great distances and past times; we can observe all of the phenomena that are dependent on the value of c.

Take the idiot creationist claim that c is infinite coming towards the Earth and c/2 leaving the Earth for example. If that were true electronics aboard our satellites (both local and distant) could not function since the permittivity and/or the permeability would need to vary between their accepted values and zero since c = 1 / SQRT(E0*U0).

Since both the permittivity (electric field property) and permeability (magnetic field property) greatly affect electronic circuit operations, things like microprocessors could not function (even on the Earth) because the normally synchronized internal signals would instantly become unsynchronized due to the different directions of electron current flow (both towards and away from the Earth).

The official name for an utterance that cannot be distinguished between a “true believer” and a parody of a “true believer” is a “POE”, as named by Nathan Poe: “Poe’s Law”. It has been expanded to cover more than just creationist ramblings and ravings.
