  1. Yes, it’s “Take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends … bring along a bottle of wine or a dish to pass, instead. Nobody likes unexpected guests.”

    It’s all in the context.

    1. “Nobody likes unexpected guests”

‘The other’. Suspicion, dread, insecurity. Invitation lists are a defining feature of all religions. So bloody insecure and tribal are the faithful.

I would add a new aphorism:

“Nobody likes unwanted verses.” You know, the ones that clearly show all religions to be categorically demoniacal.

  2. Nice one, and accurate.

That weird claim seems to always be trotted out as some lame arguing strategy. “You can’t criticize Islam unless you’re a Muslim! And especially not if you’re an atheist!! And extra especially not if you’re an ex-Muslim atheist!!!”

    1. I can’t hardly stand to watch people being devout like this. I used to just be embarrassed for them. In more recent years though it’s mostly disgust that I feel.

The overt hatred and call for violence that these assholes are praying for makes it many times more disgusting. These people are mindless puppets and proudly self righteous about it.

  3. What about that verse that is a single qoph?

(Disclaimer: I don’t read Arabic – a friend pointed this out once at a CFI meeting: it does seem to be one character all right!)
