Bob the Kitten is going to live!

April 15, 2017 • 9:00 am

Yesterday Gayle told me that Bob the Kitten (whose name will not be Bob) was losing weight, as he was not eating enough, “He’s going to live, though, right?” I asked. Gayle said she didn’t know.  And that honest response had me worried sick all day. How could such an adorable and lively little thing not live?

But tonight, when Gayle returned to join my hosts and me for dinner, a miracle (okay, well, something unexpected) had occurred: Bob, who heretofore ate milk and milk/meat soup only reluctantly, and in very small amounts, was given kitten tuna from the store, and wolfed it down with gusto!:

He ate another large portion after dinner, and seemed to be in good spirits, running all around on his wobbly legs.

We are all happy he’s eating now, and things look very good for Bob. I have been promised reports, and perhaps later we’ll get some photos as Bob grows up. It looks as if Gayle has saved her twenty-sixth kitten!

  1. Don’t jinx it! Don’t jinx it! Now I have to figure out OCD things to make it right. Knock on wood 4 times, no that wasn’t right do it again! Do it again! Do it again! Do it again!

  2. In these things you just do your best and see how it goes. Like they say, there are some tough jobs…but someone has to do it and Gayle is the one.

  3. Bravo to Gayle, and also to him whose name will not be Bob!!

My experience is that the appetite is the very best indicator of where things are going. I’ve had kids that only ate a small amount for two or three days after they were born, and then started suddenly hogging down, and it is always a big relief when that happens.

Maybe when he starts growing like a weed, we can call him Baobob.

Also reminds me of the Sandra Boynton song sung by the kid who names all of his animals Bob.

Keep us posted. Best wishes. L

  4. Well, I asked in the last thread if you would update us on his condition, and you did! Thank you, Jerry, for coming through on this one.

And thank you again, with all my heart, to Gayle. Gayle, you’re amazing, and I am so happy you’re out there to help these kittens. We need more people like you!

  5. God Bless little Bob.🐱 A tiny kitty like him may not eat a lot at first, but they do love cat food as opposed to human food.

  6. I love Bob the kitten and would love to raise him up to be cute and chubby

  7. I am rooting for Bob the kitten! I know he will survive! He has that fighter spirit in him! Keep us updated!

  8. Smart kitty, hang out for the good stuff. Get the humans trained early.
Jack the Tripaw cat is purring his approval. He’s currently on mackerel oil to get medication into him. Tried to tell me this was unacceptable this evening. I won this round…Might need a few days of Vegemite and butter coating his tablets.

  9. Bob is a cutie.Like any cat he likes tuna. Hope he does well. Lots of love for Bob.
