Man climbs 36 stairs on his head, but fails to set record

March 11, 2017 • 2:30 pm

No matter how crazy a human activity you can imagine, someone has done it and put it on the Internet. Here, according to the Guinness World Record site, a Chinese man, Li Longlong, tries to break his world record of 34 consecutive stairs climbed ON HIS HEAD.

In this video from an Italian television show, Longlong appears to break that 2012 record, mounting 36 stairs cranially. Sadly, the judges determined that he had stopped twice for more than 5 seconds, a no-no for setting this record. He also touched one of the steps, which is also prohibited. Therefore, this was a wash; but his old record still stands.

What a feet! (or should I say “What a head”?).  I bet his skull was a bit sore after that. . .

  1. You have to say it. The guy was really using his head. Could probably do commercials for Excedrin.

  2. I’d love to see his spine after that.

    Not.

I wonder what the record is for bouncing down stairs on your head?

  3. My initial thought to the headline ‘Man climbs 36 stairs on his head, but fails to set record’ was ‘why’s he got 36 stairs on his head, and how the Hell did he climb them?’
My second thought was ‘Christ! My mind works in strange ways’.

    1. My mind works in strange ways too. Taking things literally.

It’s always triggered by the sort of pop statistic that goes “A cyclist is involved in an accident every 36 minutes”. My immediate reaction is, “Poor sod, you think he’d give up after the first couple of times”.

      1. There was an advert running on British TV a couple of years ago for (I think) the Save The Children charity. The ad featured Ewan McGregor clicking his fingers every three seconds, and his first words were “Every time I click my fingers, a child dies”.
My first thought was “Then stop clicking your fingers, you psychopath!”.

  4. From the OP: “What a feet! (or should I say “What a head”?).”

Sorry, PCC, but you should say ‘what a feat’.

    1. The joke works just as well with the correct spelling of feat; even better, in fact, as it wouldn’t be marred by the pedant who lives in my head yelling “The spelling! Look at the spelling!”

  5. Probably no more strange than eating 152 hot dogs in less then 5 minutes or any other bit of nonsense.

    1. On the “Guinness records” page on youtube are many more crazy undertakings. I watched three other of these extraordinary FEATS; that was enough for the rest of the year. Maybe including 2018.
